Commercial Description:
This ale marks our journey to the only place on the planet where fresh hops are harvested in our spring, the Southern Hemisphere. Our task was daunting-we needed to get the hops picked, dried, flown halfway across the world and into our brew kettle in a little over a week's time. The result is a North-by-South fusion of fresh New Zealand hops blended with the finest North American malts. Its robust hop character presents an intriguing floral-citrus aroma leading to layers of fresh-hop spiciness. Enjoy!

Clear amber and copper coloured body with a large tan head. Aroma of bright potent, soapy, floral hops with a bit of a malt kick and some caramel tucked in. Medium-bodied; Assertive hoppiness with a good malt backbone and some light sweetness. Aftertaste shows a light hoppy flavour coupled with some sweetness - odd and not as hoppy as you’d imagine from the title. Overall, a good beer - I still prefer the Harvest Ale, but this was nice to try! I sampled this twenty-four ounce bottle purchased at Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 11-June-2009, sampled a day later at home in Washington.

Bottle of the 2009 offering. Pours a clear deep ruby brown with a large fluffy beige head. Earthy hops, light caramel, light citrus. Medium bodied, but a little thinner than I’d like. Light grapefruit bitterness, but nothing spectacular.

24 oz. Pours a lovely dark copper. Aroma is pleasantly hoppy from several inches away. Getting my nose closer does reveal a nice citrus note as well. Flowers, spice, malt, hops, and pine are the overriding flavors I can pick up on here. It’s got a decent body and mouthfeel, and the aftertaste is bitter but not unpleasant. I nice IPA offering.

24oz-pours a nice copper amber color with a one inch head, ok lacing..mild hoppy aroma nothing strong...taste floral, pine hops, citrus, malts caramel, spice notes..reminds me of hopdevil a little bit..the aftertaste stays around a while, very nice...overall Harvest is a great IPA,a step above torpedo i think.. i love how SN gives you 24oz’s, while others you get 22oz bottles...very nice beer!!!

Thick frothy head that likes to linger. Has a colour of stained hard wood flooring. Kind of chocolately bouquet. There is orange in the after taste. Alcohol is nicely suppressed until the very end with a slight burn.

Foamy, solid four-finger head. Sloooow to recede. Lots of chunky lace on the glass. With some strain, I can detect a faint haze. Otherwise, this is a lovely copper-amber color. Gorgeous. As expected, a beautiful (if mild) fresh hop aroma. Light crystal malt in the background. Seems to be balanced. More hoppy than the smell would suggest; the malt only shows up on the initial sip. The rest is bitter, culminating in the swallow and the long, long aftertaste. This is one for the hop-heads. The body is full and round; light on the carbonation regardless of the head. An easy, if somewhat high in alcohol, APA to drink...could pass for an IPA easily.
