Commercial Description:
This ale marks our journey to the only place on the planet where fresh hops are harvested in our spring, the Southern Hemisphere. Our task was daunting-we needed to get the hops picked, dried, flown halfway across the world and into our brew kettle in a little over a week's time. The result is a North-by-South fusion of fresh New Zealand hops blended with the finest North American malts. Its robust hop character presents an intriguing floral-citrus aroma leading to layers of fresh-hop spiciness. Enjoy!

Thick frothy head that likes to linger. Has a colour of stained hard wood flooring. Kind of chocolately bouquet. There is orange in the after taste. Alcohol is nicely suppressed until the very end with a slight burn.

Foamy, solid four-finger head. Sloooow to recede. Lots of chunky lace on the glass. With some strain, I can detect a faint haze. Otherwise, this is a lovely copper-amber color. Gorgeous. As expected, a beautiful (if mild) fresh hop aroma. Light crystal malt in the background. Seems to be balanced. More hoppy than the smell would suggest; the malt only shows up on the initial sip. The rest is bitter, culminating in the swallow and the long, long aftertaste. This is one for the hop-heads. The body is full and round; light on the carbonation regardless of the head. An easy, if somewhat high in alcohol, APA to drink...could pass for an IPA easily.

2009 bottle. Pours a clear amber with a medium creamy white head that lasts awhile leaving behind decent spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is floral hops with citrus and pine. Medium mouthfeel with a piney hops taste and a nice bitter finish. Hides the alcohol well making it easy to drink. A very good IPA from Sierra Nevada.

Poured from Bottle into Pint glass. Pours a clear amber color with a booming rocky slightly off-white head that lasts forever. This beer leaves heavy, sticky lacing as you drink it. Aroma has a floral bouquet of hops with some touches of citrus and caramel malt. The flavor is full of citrus and pine hops and some sweet malt, very similar to the aroma and ends with a bitterness that creeps up on you but doesn’t overpower. Its a light- to medium-bodied and is very carbonated. This is a very nice beer and its lightness makes the hops ever more present.

Pours a rich amber color with little off-white head. Aroma was very pleasant, hops and flowers. Medium-bodied, taste similar to smell, no aftertaste. A very nice beer.

There’s a lot to like about this beer but nothing about it makes it especially memorable. Overall i’d readily drink it again as it is very balanced and drinkable, it just isn’t exceptional, something brewers like Sierra often hit with their seasonal brews.
