Commercial Description:
This ale marks our journey to the only place on the planet where fresh hops are harvested in our spring, the Southern Hemisphere. Our task was daunting-we needed to get the hops picked, dried, flown halfway across the world and into our brew kettle in a little over a week's time. The result is a North-by-South fusion of fresh New Zealand hops blended with the finest North American malts. Its robust hop character presents an intriguing floral-citrus aroma leading to layers of fresh-hop spiciness. Enjoy!

Orange color and looks about the same as Celebration or the regular Harvest Ale. Nice green hoppy smell. The taste seems to follow with a nice fresh hoppy flavor that is kinda grassy. This is very similar to the other Harvest Ale which I happen to prefer. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 06-07-2008 03:37:47

Bottle from Lighthouse Beverage Surf City NC 6/27/08: Orange hazy amber w/ a lasting dark cream colored head. Fruity and floral with grassy hops and caramel and toasted malts that help balance the aroma. Some bready notes as it warms and also becomes herbal. The flavor seeemed clean and grassy/herbal hops to me with a moderate caramel and toasted malt profile. The finish is semi dry, herbal hoppy; Toasted and bready malt flavors up front, but the finsh also has a lingering, pleasant bitterness that carries over into the aftertaste. Dry m/f, lighter medium body, medium carbonation. Not a whole lot different than the North American Harvest Ale, aside from the hop profile. Instead of being lightly citrusy and floral, it seems more herbal and grassy. Still tasty and clean though!

A strawberry-fruitniess mixed in with the hops, oramge. little cloudy body with losting head. Slightly harsh mix of hops and greenness wiht enough caramel present to approach balance, but i like it a little rough.

I would much rather keep my carbon footprint in mind and pick up Avery’s "Ale to the Chief." Very similar. Thick, off-white head, amber color, decent retention, decorative lacing. Balanced malty/hoppy aroma, iced tea? Medium carbonation. Caramel spice, medium hop, bitter finish. Delicious and right on style.

Bottle. Clear, foamy, medium brown body with very nice attractive lacing. Nose=smells like Homebrew HQ, hops in the freezer, very clean, not too sweet, perfect hops, almost minty on the back end. Light straw and hay. Very nicely done. An excellent beer, even for me, someone who isn’t a “hophead"

Poured into my jimmy johns cup. Rich dark amber color with monster creamy beige head. Nose is apricots, canned pears, pine, grapefruit, and sunflower seeds. Taste is pretty much the same. Mouthfeel is actually kind of thin but highly quaffable for 6.7%. Finish is medium. Lots of interesting new flavors but I get a medicinal astringent finish that is off putting.

What a beautiful pour -- cascadining into a gigantic head over bright orange and active goodness. The aroma is a crisp, floral hop farm -- where’s my swimsuit? I want to dive in. Nice chewy hop drinker, with a citric, acidic sting to finish it off. Very nice. 2008 1st Release version. (#3491, 11/2008)

Rosy reddish hue, big tan froth head, no carbonation in the glass. Lace stick on the glass making an allover nice beer to look at. Slight wheat smell gives way to lemon and hops aroma. A zesty light summertime smell. Strong sharp hops dominates an otherwise fresh grassy beer. Yes its very hoppy but I think the fresh springlike taste is most remarkable.
