Commercial Description:
This ale marks our journey to the only place on the planet where fresh hops are harvested in our spring, the Southern Hemisphere. Our task was daunting-we needed to get the hops picked, dried, flown halfway across the world and into our brew kettle in a little over a week's time. The result is a North-by-South fusion of fresh New Zealand hops blended with the finest North American malts. Its robust hop character presents an intriguing floral-citrus aroma leading to layers of fresh-hop spiciness. Enjoy!

Huge head on a bronze-amber body, grassy, woody hops with a hint of spiciness. Warm, inviting, heavy with a dry, pure, bitterness that lasts a long time. Heady, some alcohol apparent. Really fresh and nice, a bit too heavy for a springtime ale. Overall, a well done beer.

Unique idea, using hops from New Zealand to make a strong Sierra Nevada IPA. Its the style the brewery does best, and Southern Hemisphere Harvest is no exception. Strong C-hops, well backed by caramel malts. At four bucks a bottle its a great value, too.

Big head, excellent lacing, big hop aroma, flowers, pine and citrus. The color is an orange/copper and cloudy. The initial flavor is creamy, back of the tongue bitter the hops just roll in your mouth, very nice.

Pours a rich coppery color with thick frothy off-white head and intense lacing. Aroma is very resinous, citrusy and earty. To me, this smelled like a fresh Bigfoot, but without all of the intense alcohol and maltiness. Taste is intense hoppy with a huge citrus profile and with a nice caramel backbone. Very well balanced, it’s like Celebration Ale and Bigfoot combined.

24oz - 2008 Version - Poured a dark orangish amber in color with a small white head that stuck around. Some lacing on the glass. Aroma is strong of citrus and pine hops along with a fair amount of malty sweetness. Flavor is not as intense, but still filed with lots of hops. Slightly sweet and malty initially, but definitely hoppy and medium bitter in the middle and finish. I like this one...

Very pleasant aroma, piney, deep, almost soapy. This is quite a bitter beer. I mean there is a nice light sweet body, little bit nutty, caramel. But for the most part, some very bitter, piney, resinous flavors persist.

Bottle. Have been waiting some time for this, hope it’s as good as it would have been two months ago. Lovely hop aroma, heavy citrus and pine, light resin and lychee. Wood and earth with some caramel and more of that lovely SN breadiness. Amber pour with a fluffy, rocky, steady, spoonable large beige head. Bittersweet taste, a bit candyish. Doesn’t really dry out all that much, though does finish with warm bread and a strong bit of spice. Sweaty, woody tones under the dulled citrus are what make this work. Earthy hops and caramel with light pine. Faintest hint of peach, similarly light black pepper and black tea leaves. Smooth light body but not watery. Balanced and classy, well worth the wait.

Amber body with a bubbly off-white head. Smells like this odd skunky hop aroma. It’s kind of off. Flavor is definitely not the hitting of hops I was hoping for, but it certainly isn’t bad and is certainly nicely hopped. Finishes with a nice malty sweetness and a little hop presence. Nice creamy-like body. All right.
