Commercial Description:
This ale marks our journey to the only place on the planet where fresh hops are harvested in our spring, the Southern Hemisphere. Our task was daunting-we needed to get the hops picked, dried, flown halfway across the world and into our brew kettle in a little over a week's time. The result is a North-by-South fusion of fresh New Zealand hops blended with the finest North American malts. Its robust hop character presents an intriguing floral-citrus aroma leading to layers of fresh-hop spiciness. Enjoy!

@ Flying Saucer in Nashville, TN - This is a great beer. I thought I’ve had their best beer until I tasted this one. This has to be the best beer I’ve had by Sierra Nevada. It has a very sweet and fruitful taste that is very clean and crisp. I would highly recommend this beer to anyone.

Bottle. Pours a medium amber, maybe copper with medium beige head. Aroma is earthy and hoppy, some grassiness and pine with floral notes. Flavor is fairly malty, lightly sweet with plenty of caramel. The hop flavors were interesting and quite different from what I’m used to coming out of a SN bottle, more floral and herbal instead of that citrusy grapefruit like blast I’m used to. Bitterness was fairly light and the finish was malty and slightly spicy and peppery. Good stuff, though I prefer the "regular hemisphere" harvest to this one.

Bottle. Nice aroma of piney hops, toffee, and grapefruit. Poured a clear reddish-orange color. The head was thick and white with good retention and lacing. Light to medium bodied with delicate sweetness that was drowned out by moderate hop bitterness. I tasted sprucy hops and biscuity malt with a dash of cinnamon. Pretty good stuff, but I like the aroma much better than the flavor.

Pours an appetizing orange amber color with a white head that quickly dissipates. Lacking in the normal aroma of an IPA I expect but the flavor makes up for it here. What aroma that is there is more on the floral side. The flavor is of some citrus and resin. A little grass thrown in there as well. Notice a definite difference from the standard us hop profile used but still very unique and enjoyable. More flavor and body than what I am used to from these guys.

It pours a nice, appetizing dark amber with a thick and persistent creamy-beige head. Aroma is rich and fruity, more like a cider, but with some malt and hop components. Flavor is surprisingly hoppy and nicely bitter with an undertone of pear; it tastes somewhat like an IPA mixed with pear cider. Texture is smooth, and aftertaste is hoppy and a little bitter but with a touch of sweetness.

Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub in North Huntingdon PA this beer poured a bright ruby-caramel color with a medium sized foamy orange-white head. The aroma was strong grapefruit, pine and a hint of lemon. The flavor was bitter, tangy and tart with a strong burst of piney and fruity hops that covered the tongue and refused to leave. The finish was long, bitter and hoppy. The hops really overwhelm this one but in a good way!

24 oz bottle, well I think it was 24 oz. Pours a very good looking copper amber with an average size slightly off white frothy head. Aroma is all hops, lots of citrus and perhaps even a slight touch of pine along with some caramel malts to balance it out. Lots of flavor on this one with tons of citrus, floral hops, light grains and caramel. Medium bodied with strong carbonation and all around one great beer. This is Sierra Nevada doing what they do best, big hoppy beers that don’t let you down. Nice!!!
