Chocolate and caramel aroma with some roastiness. Full mouth feel, with somewhat oily roasted malts, milk chocolate and a bitter, hoppy finish. Alcohol was rather pronounced at the end. Good.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with a frothy and thick beige head. Mainly the aroma is roasty with coffee notes but I also sense sweet caramel and fruity hops. The flavour is roasted coffee, light chocolate, caramel and hops. A very nice creamy edition. Good depth for the 5.8%. NeoHippie2 (177), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 20, 2009 Wow. This was not what I was expecting at all...but in a good way. I do love sierra nevada but when i think of Sierra Nevada I think hops. So i was expecting this beer to be pretty bracingly bitter. But it isn’t. Nice full-bodied flavor lots of roasted malt character going on here. Finishes with a nice coffee/toffee aftertaste. Wonderful brew and a great stout. Would definitely have this again. joebudzjoe (231), Connecticut, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 18, 2009 Tap @ Monster B’s. Dark blackish brown body with nice light brown head. Milky, smooth with soy-like mouth feel. Flavor isn’t too profound but unoffensive. Nice lacing. Nothing special, but would have again. Niko100 (145), New York, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 15, 2009 Dark body with a toffee colored head. Aroma is rather unique for a stout. Floral and hoppy, with the malt character in the background, the reverse of most stouts. Mouth feel has some initial carbonation with a medium body. The hop character nicely complements the malt. Notes of sour citrus and chocolate are prevalent. Finishes out nicely with a bitter aftertaste. alexanderj (2279), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 15, 2009 Bottle; quite dark; black with a really classic looking dark tan head. Aroma of fruit, roasted malt, sweet malt, yeast, and NW hops. Flavor was really well balanced for the style, and you could really taste the hop influence. The hops were not overpowering by any stretch, but were very nice compliments. Not as roasted as the color would suggest. Some chalkiness. Less fruit and sweetness than the aroma, with a more substantial yeasty component. All in all, a beer I liked and one I could see a lot of people loving.
