Rune (1662), Tromsø, Norway Sep 1, 2008 355ml bottle. A beige, foamy head resting on top of a deep black body. Display of nice laceworks. Earthy malts to the nose. Sweet chocolate flavour offset by liquorice and bitter coffee. Roasted backbone. Foamy mouthfeel. Well made stout (Hotel room, Earls Court 06.08.2008) BigMilly8 (363), Holiday, Florida, USA Aug 30, 2008 From bottle : Pours very dark brown with a huge light brown head, and big time lacing all around the glass. Rich malty chocolatey smells. Taste is alot the same, very nice and rich. Palate is a little light and thin, and not much aftertaste. Overall it is a decent stout, enjoyable. timsilvia32 (206), born in Michigan, North Carolina, USA Aug 28, 2008 Dark brown pour, slight cream foam. Roast malt chocolate aromas. Tastes the same, good amount of miniscule carbonation creates a creamy mouthfeel. Good finish and very drinkable. This might actually be my favorite SN mass beer. JCB (1014), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 27, 2008 12oz from Peace Street Market, Raleigh. Inky dark pour with a moderate head, fairly lasting. Big roasted notes in the aroma make this a pleasant offering on a par with (and very similar to) Steelhead Stout. But man, that SN hop profile is just right up front in everything they do. In this particular beer it combines very well with the overall bitterness of the flavor, something I’m quite partial to. Nice one. BeerBunker (48), Burbank, Illinois, USA Aug 26, 2008 Pours black with a fast dissolving white head. Aroma is of malts and minimal chocolate. Taste is bitter, but in a skunky beer sort of way. The body is light making the bitter taste all the worse. Finish is just bitterness. Overall, the beer was nothing spectacular but it is drinkable.
