| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 12, 2009 poured semi dark clear gold and made a two finger thick frothy white head. the body is the color of a white zinfandel wine and is clear with slight small bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. there is decent thin lacing around the glass. it smells of white wine grapes, tangerines, and pine sol. it is medium bodied with a nice bitter aftertaste taste at the tip of the tongue and has moderate carbonation across the palate. the palatabilty is pretty nice for an ipa and people who are not used to this style would probally enjoy this beer. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 12, 2009 Bottle. Golden to pale orange color with medium sized white head and good lacing. Not at all as hoppy aroma as I expected. The aromas are very smooth, flowery, fruity and herbal. Lemon verbena, grassy, a hint of tobacco and bitter oranges. Sweet toasted and biscuity malt background. Medium body with a clean bitterness balances up the alcohol and malt perfectly and ends in a crisp and dry finish. Finally a grassy, nutty and herbal hop bite that begs for another sip. Net really as big and assertive as I was expecting, but instead seducingly beautifully balanced and refreshing. Not a single technical fault in this beer whatsoever. Braincage1 (142), Cary, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 10, 2009 Bottle. Good looking beer with a dark amber color and a huge pillowy white head. Strong aroma of sweet raisins and grapefruit. Starts sweet with some honey but then quickly adds a big kick of hops and a long lasting bitter metallic finish. Just too bitter and one sided in the end to be really enjoyable on every occassion, unlike its more popular cousin. GoBlue (102), Falls Church, Virginia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 8, 2009 Deep orange color with white head. Intense pine and citrus aroma. Rich malt flavor balances lasting bitterness. Nice beer dyetube (417), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 7, 2009 This beer pours an deep orange with a medium tan head that dissipates quickly. The aromas are apricots and pine. The flavors are pine wood, apricots and bread. I really liked this one. It was kinda sweet at the beginning turning to dry at the end with a great hop finish. Cheers! sweetgoodness (19), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 6, 2009 Not a big aroma, but nice lacing and creamy head with a clear amber appearance are promising. Sweet apricot and a hint of floral hops give way to a great bitterness that coats the tongue and lingers on the edges. Reminds me more of a floral dry-hopped ESB than an american ipa but I’m definitely not complaining! vomit (65), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2009 This went head-to-head, tete-a-tete, mano a mano with Stone IPA last night.....and the winner is........
Stone IPA.
We also throw in a few Blatz to mix things up as well, and sure enough the Blatz kicked them all to the curb. This beer is OK, but maybe a little too sweet. If the price would come down a bit, they may have something here. I liked it, but you really can’t compete with Blatz, so why bother? No sir, for an IPA, this is good. It just can’t hang with the Big Boys (i.e. Blatz). Think about it. beernovice39 (307), South Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 6, 2009 Pours clear gold with light red tint. Smell of hops. Taste is a chewy bread at first with dry hop bitter quickly following. Nice balance and enjoyable.
