Started off stunning, having me thinking of what I wanted His Majesty to be... but it died away withthe hop spice and alcohol becoming just a little too prominent in the finish. Lovely beer but not quite enough to sink this battleship. jarndyce (38), Idaho, USA

This is really fantastic and packs a whallop at 7.2% alcohol (if memory serves). Huge lemon citrus aroma. Tight taste, lemongrass, apple, pine, a hint of nut. Definitely the surprise of 2009 for me...will gladly drink this again. Fratto (740), Arlington, Texas, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 19, 2009 Amber body with a thick soapy froth of a head leaving plenty of lace. Aroma is citrusy and floral with some bitterness showing through. Flavor is pleasantly bitter and becomes drier toward the finish. Some caramel and citrus along with a light floral hop flavor. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 19, 2009 Slightly red pour, nice head, constant lacing. Pine-hop aroma. Some sweetness, then comes the hop blast, Some sticky resin flavor, abit sugary, hops dominate, but aftertaste is sweet and clean, VERY well balanced, great brew, great brew! Love this one, can’t wait to have again, Bravo Sierra Nevada!!!! triguy84 (66), Fitchburg, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Sep 17, 2009 Clear reddish-gold. This white head that lasts. Citrusy hop aroma. Some malt sweetness hidden in the hop bitterness. Medium-light bodied. Bitterness lingers. I am not tasting the hops due to the bitterness, but I do like this IPA. Appearance: Amber orange with a foamy, off-white head. Great head retention.
Aroma: Lighter than expected I got some pine notes but had a hard time getting much else. A bit too cold perhaps.
Taste: Big pine hop notes and good malt sweetness to even everything out. Not overly sweet mind you, just enough to help keep things drinkable. Nice herbal and citrus notes. This one has great balance!
Palate: Medium-high carbonation with a medium-rich mouthfeel and a long, bitter finish. Just the way it should be!
Overall: This one has scary drinkability. Definitely worth seeking out if you haven’t had it yet!
