Flavor is a mix of malt and hops with a tendency toward bitterness. Starts with a sweet taste, middle is of floral hops, and finish is of bitter hops and grapefruit. Palate is moderately creamy. Pretty tasty but less complex than the Southern Hemisphere Harvest. blindeyedbetty (152), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 27, 2009 12 oz. bottle pours a ruby-amber color with frothy off-white head that leaves generous lacing. Aroma is of strong hops with a creamy malty-ness. Flavor is mildly malty on the front palate with a hoppy middle and hoppier finish and even hoppier, bitter as hell aftertaste. Maybe it’s my jacked-up tastebuds, but I can’t taste much of anything other than hops in this beer with the slight possibility of bitter grapefruit in the aftertaste. I was hoping for more different types of flavors in the palate because the aroma was nice and creamy, but I was rather disappointed. I’m chalking it up to the liklihood that my palate is inexperienced and I’m not ready for an Extra IPA of this nature. kassner (475), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Aug 23, 2009 Pours a crisp, clear copper color with a thick off-white head that seems to be lasting with nice lacing. You can smell the sweet hops with a little citrus note, overall aroma is lower though because it doesn’t stand out for me. Now as for the flavor and palate it is a different story. The hops are there with their wonderful pine bite that I’ve come to love from Sierra Nevada and it also lingers on the palate and sticks with you. As I’ve written this and enjoyed this beer It has livened up and more of the hop aroma is coming through. Overall this is a good beer that I will enjoy and most likely have again. Strong taste of hops. Very smooth drinking even with the strong hops. Quite spicy and malty. Aftertaste is mild and fades slowly. Good finish.
