I love IPAs, but this one goes above and beyond the call of duty with intense pine flavors. No citrus, just feels like a walk in some damp, northern California woods. Excellent blend of soft carb and almost brutal hops. My favorite Sierra outside of Bigfoot. Jblauvs (619), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 14, 2009 Bottle. Clear, with no obvious bottle conditioning. Deep amber, with minimal head. Excellent hop aroma, with pine and lemon predominate. Medium-light body, with a strong, resinous hop flavor. Not quite heavy enough for and IIPA, I guess that’s why its an EIPA. It’s one of those brews that aren’t mind blowing, but always show up nestled in the dusty corner, pushed conveniently out of the way by the jock-brew classics; Bud, Bud Light, Coors, and Corona. Sierra Nevada is just a solid brew and occasionally a "night" saver. I picked this up at Target of all places. Cool eh? A new Sierra Nevada to try. Well I popped it open and poured it into a nice pub glass. Pours like the other brews, though a bit more thin. First few "Bites" are straight bitter. I was worried actually for I felt I might have just got another on-market bitter banger. Luckily, as is the case with ol’ Sierra Nevada, this one opens up well. Not AS defined as say the Two Hearted Ale, this still carries exceptionally well. Bitter, roasted ends topped with Northern California Pine. Mountain air, east side of the mountain...nice and dry, and very crisp. Slightly chewy and as it warms up, caramel and cascades pop in and out. Some floral notes on the back-end roll into a superb grapefruit aftertaste.
