I like SN brews, but this really didn’t do anything for me. Bad bitter hops flavor, smelled of crappy storage and skunk. May rerate and just hope that I had a bad bottle. stubby (326), Santee, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 6, 2009 Massive hop flavor and restrained hop bitterness, considering the huge hop flavors. Some malt backbone. Overall a hop showcase, if you’re in to that sort of thing. zizzybalubba (405), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA

To be expected, bitter pine flavor. Not much else with the hops going on here but better than it sounds. As the description states, pleasant dry finish. Overall a very good IPA. thebeertourist (2837), Oslo, Norway
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 5, 2009 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Glorious orange colour with a medium head. Lovely citrus aroma, grapefruit, but also more soft notes. Sharper in the mouth, at least initially, but mellows on further contact. Solid citrussy hoppiness, some herbs. Highly quenchable, but yet more complex than it seems. Rich hoppiness can never go wrong. maeib (4776), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England

I was expecting a higher level of hoppiness with this, but actually found it quite mellow. Piney hops with lemon and melon. Bitter but never harsh. Easy drinking yet still good quality.Score 3.8 Subsequent ratings scored 3.9 and 3.9 Score becomes 3.9 obguthr (1078), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 1/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 13/20 | Jun 4, 2009 Hoppy nose with pine and caramel notes and foot funk undertones. Hazy copper with fine suspended sediments. Raucous bitter flavor, resinous pine needles. Caramel malt also detectable. Full mouthfeel. Weak bitter finish, lemon zest perhaps..The high quality of the ingredients are evident, but I’m not sold on what Sierra Nevada is trying to do with this one. Simple and without balance. Also, my sample seems flawed. BenDover (130), Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 4, 2009 Pours a medium/dark amber, bit of off-white foam. Aroma is hoppy and spicy, a hint of pine/resin. Taste starts out just a hint sweet and malty, well balanced really, and then the hops kicks in. Pretty citrusy, a fairly strong pine taste. Not too thick -- really one of the best mouthfeels I’ve ever experienced in an IPA, and this is more than a regular IPA (although less than a double or imperial IPA). Really great stuff. boomer0813 (53), denton, Texas, USA
