Commercial Description:
Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

Pours out amber-orange with lots of head. Taste is sweet and malty with lots of bitter hops. Nice balance. Easy to drink. Crisp bitter finish. Great 6pack for the $. One soild IPA.

Bottle: Great looking orange brew with hints of yellow toward the edge of the glass. Foaming white head. Appetising and very, very clear. There is a pleasing thickness to the aroma as if one were inhaling a marshmallow. Full of pine freshness and yet some floury sourdough does make an appearance. Seemingly well balanced on the nose. Ooh. Now here is something. Not too in-your-face USA. Yes the hops are right there but they are accompanied by ripe mango and pulpy banana.. The malts and yeast are very readable. This is remarkably well balanced, one might even say restrained. Slightly petrolly which gives it a nice lightly burnt richness. Quite thick and oily with a tingly carbonation that prickles the tongue a bit much for me. Foams up nicely in the mouth though. An impressive and well judged IPA.

Draft at WBF. Very solid IPA, just wasnt all that impressed. Might as well have juiced it up a bit and made it an IIPA. Still, refreshing and has some very nice hop character.

Served in a shaker at Austin Flying Saucer. One finger head over golden body. Not much aroma. A sweet caramel hint to the aftertaste. Medium carbonation.

Sierra Nevada’s Torpedo unleashes a hop explosion as you take a healthy sip. Clear and orange with a foamy, cream colored head, this IPA will test your hops tolerance. In other words, besides the subtle apple flavor that lurks beneath the surface, drinking this beer essentially amounts to eating the hops that were put into the recipe itself. The bitter flower takes center stage here leaving room for little else. Otherwise, Torpedo is heavy in the carbonation department producing a buzzy mouth-feel. The ending is the best part: smooth and dry.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a nice copper color with a light off-white head. Nice lacing. Nice lingering froth. Pine and citrus notes predominate. Nice crispness, bitter, but not overly so. Light to medium bodied. Very refreshing.

bottle. Pours a dark amber copper color, decent half inch of thick off white head, visible active carbonation. Aroma dominated by sharp, bitter citrusy hops, notes of grapefruit and some lemons. Somewhat typical SN Chop nose. Flavor shows a healthy dose of sharp citric bitterness, sharp grapefruit and lemons, some light notes of pine and grass. Muted caramel sweetness. Palate is crisp and even with a cry lightly bitter finish. Decent, solid IPA, though no real unique qualities.
