| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 3, 2009 Sierra Nevada’s Torpedo unleashes a hop explosion as you take a healthy sip. Clear and orange with a foamy, cream colored head, this IPA will test your hops tolerance. In other words, besides the subtle apple flavor that lurks beneath the surface, drinking this beer essentially amounts to eating the hops that were put into the recipe itself. The bitter flower takes center stage here leaving room for little else. Otherwise, Torpedo is heavy in the carbonation department producing a buzzy mouth-feel. The ending is the best part: smooth and dry. NJJereme (272), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA

Pours a dark amber copper color, decent half inch of thick off white head, visible active carbonation. Aroma dominated by sharp, bitter citrusy hops, notes of grapefruit and some lemons. Somewhat typical SN Chop nose. Flavor shows a healthy dose of sharp citric bitterness, sharp grapefruit and lemons, some light notes of pine and grass. Muted caramel sweetness. Palate is crisp and even with a cry lightly bitter finish. Decent, solid IPA, though no real unique qualities. Boutip (2383), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2009 Bottle: Poured a clear copper color with a large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of dry and citrusy hops. Taste is also dominated by some citrus hops with a nice clean bitter finish with some dry caramel malt. Hops are easily discernable but well balanced with great overall drinking factor. Body is about average with good carbonation. Nothing extreme about this one but very well balanced and easily drinkable. jfenglish (215), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2009 Bottle. Not a big fan of the "hop bombs" but this one I enjoyed. Citrus and floral aroma coming from the orange-hued liquid topped with a fluffy white head and some nice lacing on the sides. Enough sweetness in the malt to balance the substantial hop presence. I liked the smoothness of the hops- they weren’t not sharp or bitter. A nice combination of grapefruit, orange, and pine. Left a dry and slightly bitter aftertaste. Very nice. (BTW, amazed this is 7.2%- can’t tell at all.) VTHopHead (925), Barre, Vermont, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 2, 2009 Bottle - Pours a nice clear orange-amber in color with a small whitish head that fades quickly. Aroma is all about the hops... citrus, some pine and quite pronounced. Flavor is, given the dominating hop aroma, surprising well balanced. Hops still dominate the flavor profile, but there is a significant malt presence that evens everything out. Finishes with a short, dry hoppy bitterness. This is really good and very drinkable beer!
