Clear, light gold-amber with moderate head and very nice lacing.
Aroma of pine and citrus, dry toasted malts, slight alcohol.
Great hop taste with only moderate bitterness, mostly at the finish. Citrus, pine and tropical fruit countered by slightly sweet toasted malts.
Relatively low carbonation, medium body, very smooth for a regular IPA (maybe this is why it is "extra"). Finishes quite dry.
Fantastic smooth and drinkable IPA. I understand the "extra" part - more than an IPA, less than a DIPA.

Poured an almost clear amber copper color with a nice beige head that fell rather quickly. Sweet aroma of soft caramel malt with ample fresh hop presence. Some sweetness with a fair hop flavor & heavy bitterness. The malt and hop flavors are somewhat flat with the bittering hops being the most pronounced feature, maybe because that’s the least expensive ingredient. Unbalanced.
Fair for supermarket beer, but Celebration & especially Inversion have it beat. Unibonger (61), Mount Shasta, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 30, 2009 Lovely deep copper color with a nice foamy head that has good retention. Hops are very strong on the nose, not much note of the malt. Its not overly bitter but the hops definitely make themselves known. Has excellent mouth-feel and a good amount of carbonation. kosko20 (313), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA

The Hops can actually be tasted and linger in your mouth minutes after a sip. Just the way I like my ale/beer especially IPA. Outstanding. Another masterpiece from the great Sierra Nevada. jongo (4), Stockholm, Sweden does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 27, 2009 Bottle.
