| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 3, 2009 Bottle. Wonderful aromatic hops wafting from the glass. Hazy amber body that is darker in the middle of the glass than on the sides. Cascading carbonation feeds a yellowish off-white head that is thick, frothy and leaves an intriquite lace. Hard to find a beer with a better appearance than this brew. This beer is superior to SNPA (an epa in it’s own right) in just about every way. In fact, it tastes to me like I recollect SNPA used to taste like (albeit with less alcohol) before I believe they started dumbing it down for the masses. Perhaps this is the return of the original SNPA under a different name. Perfectly balanced. Hops are a little harsh and there is a bit of dustiness in the finish. Still, outstanding. Although pretty solidly rated, I do think there is some "macro" bias bringing it down a bit. I hope this is a year round offering as it immediately rises to the top shelf of readily available IPAs. Now with Torpedo, Big Foot and Celebration in its stable of brews, Sierra Nevada has re-established itself as a brewer to be reckoned with in the next era of the better beer revolution.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Aroma complex, predominately hops as one would expect in an IPA. Resin, grass, citrus, faintly woody. Brilliant clear amber, with persistent pillowy off-white head. Much sticky lacing. Taste is medium sweet, over an underlying heavy (but not harsh) bitterness. Full body, oily texture, sticky, thick feel. Soft carbonation, yet 1/4 inch head remains halfway down the glass. Pleasantly lingering bitter finish. Overall, very satisfying with unexpected aspects, such as the fullness of body and restrained citrus quality. Good differences, which makes trying new brews so rewarding! CamdenD (608), Madrid, Spain
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Yet another well made IPA from the west coast. Sierra Nevada’s Pale Ale would in most cases be an IPA, so this Torpedo takes its pale ale and bitters it up a bit and coppers the appearance. You all know what to expect from Sierra Nevada.. chriso (4851), London, Greater London, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Cask (handpump) at the White Horse American Beer Festival, July 2009. Mid amber colour. Sweetish hop aroma. More fat sweet hops in the flavour. Some underlying bitterness so not too blowsy. Finish is bittersweet with a quite astringent aftertaste. Worked well on cask.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 20, 2009 Hazy copper colour with a rocky off white head. Aroma is hoppy with notes of pineapple, passionfruit and nose tickleing citrus. Flavour is more maltforward with Sierras standard profile + allot of sweet and fruity hop notes. Ends on a balanced but bitter note. Mouthfeel is smooth and a bit sticky. From decent to good depending on freshness. Niko100 (144), New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2009 Amber/orange color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of hops, citrus, and floral; Flavor of bitter hops, citrus - notably grapefruit and some spice; Nicely balanced, and the bitterness is not overpowering which makes it more drinkable; Though I’m not a biggest fan of the style, I did enjoy this one.
