JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 20, 2008 Bottles from Sparky27 and Miketd - thanks! This one is my only bottle of batch 2 (the others are B!) and I wanted to see how I liked the fresh hop taste (as opposed to the brett later on). This one has a golden color with a big bubbly head. Aroma has some light citrus, yeast, and acidity. Flavor is somewhat hop dominant - a bit of Duvel mixed with a fresh IPA. Amarillo shines though here with some assorted floral hops, light brett, and a bit of tripel-ish sugar. I really liked it, but I have a feeling that if the brett kicks in this will be one outstanding beer. Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Jul 20, 2008 750ml bottle. Hazy golden appearence. Spicy acidic flavor, mild carbonation. Not a belgian ale fan, but it’s okay. ahalloin (54), Arlington, Virginia, USA Jul 19, 2008 Pours a clear gold-orange color with ample chunky white head that blossoms up and clings to the side of the glass. The aroma reminds me of a well-hopped Saison with some floral peaking through the mysterious spices. Some hints of dried apricot and citrus come through as well. The flavor is a funky concoction of blunt hops, pepper, citrus fruits, and other spices. To control all of this, the beer is fairly well malted. The beer dances in the mouth due to the high carbonation. Very interesting. Cobra (1060), In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA Jul 13, 2008 750 ml. brown Belgian bottle. Corked and caged. Loud pop released the cork. Poured out a hazy orange color, with chunks of sediment, and a huge sticky tan colored head. Aromas are of spicy yeast, sour fruit, some orange peel. Flavors are yeasty bread, sour oranges, white pepper, earthy hops & dry malts. Slightly astringent, highly carbonated. Thick mouthfeel, almost chewy. Dry aftertaste, somewhat chalky. Decent beer overall, but not worth the $16 I paid for it. paytoplay (122), , California, USA Jul 10, 2008 Would rate this much higher in a couple years. This needs time. Sediment was heavy, a little oxidized but in a good way. Floral, hops kick in a little in the mid and finish. Slightly disjointed finish and dry. Nose smelled of white rubber, and the brew had some sweetness. I have to believe once that balances out with some bottle age this will be an outstanding brew. And at around $13 not bad for a special brew in a 750ml caged bottle. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 7, 2008 Bottle shared by my son, Enniskillen; Nose of light floral hops, musty caramel, and light spices; light amber, clear, with a small offwhite head; flavor has light sour peaches, light bitterness and tartness, and light caramel; finish has very light hop bitterness. Body seems a little on the watery side. pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA Jul 7, 2008 Amber with a nice off white head. Aroma is alcohol, yeast, spice, faint caramel. Taste is alcohol, caramel, yeast, light brown sugar, mainly a heavy yeast taste.
