Hazy orange coloured with a medium sized white head.
Fruity aroma of yeast and spices with notes of brett.
Fruity flavour of spices with notes of yeast and hops.
Hoppy finish.
Fizzy palate. CharlesDarwin (1823), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Jun 22, 2008 750mL Bottle. At least 1 year old. Heavy brett nose in cotton, almonds, apple skins, and sweet florals. Inviting, heavy on the Brett and delightful. A bit of minerals glide in with passionfruit. Delightful. Pours a brilliant deeper gold, with a rim of white. Flavor develops a blend of savory and sweet in Brett delight. Tart, bright, fresh and backed with a nice run of malty bread sugars in the middle for balance and composure. Excellent. A gummy bit of hops round out the backside, through a fog of mysterious cobwebs and dust from the Brett. A stunning use of Brett to finish a beer. yespr (11645), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jun 22, 2008 Updated: Aug 19, 2008Bottle. Papsoes MadsBerg homecoming blindtasting, bottle #28. Pours hazy orange with a lacing white head. Mild hoppy orange fruity. Light butterish note too. Fruity caramel malt base. Light hoppy orange fruity flavour towards the finish. Has a medium dry bitterness and a mild fruity finish.7-3-7-3-13=3.3
75 cL bottle, batch 2 tasted at Lost Abbey. Pours clear and golden orange with a lacing white head. Yeasty, caramel and mild brett dry aroma. Flavour is dry and with a light brett accent to a classic belgian caramel an yeasty base beer. Complimenting the beer quite well and breaking the otherwise slight cloying mix with a nice dry crispness. Mild dry and yeasty finish. Smooth and delicious. 8-3-8-4-16=3.9 Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 22, 2008 (Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of FlacoAlto. Slightly hazy golden with an off-white head. Aroma of yeast and fruit. Medium body with sweet fruit and yeast and a fairly bitter finish. Nothing wrong with it - it’s just plain boring. And how it made it to an average of 3.86 really is one of this world’s great mysteries. 190608 UselessGdTaste (363), Long Beach, California, USA Jun 21, 2008 Great combination. Not as unusual as I was expecting, but I could certainly taste the san diego style hops added to a very good belgian example. jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Jun 21, 2008 Glowing orange with a sticky, thick head that contributes a great amount of lacing to the glass. Aromas of bread and strong lemon, rhubarb, and musky hops. Smooth and light, with a slick finish of french bread crust and plum preserves. Grassy hop, sour fruit, then a great punch of alcohol and raw hop/yeast/malt. Far from being unbalanced, this beer just has phases, and develops on the palate. Interesting and delicious stuff. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jun 20, 2008 Supposedly a wild ale, hopped like a Double IPA. Golden color with a small, wispy white foam. Smells of some wildness, with hints of floral-like, lemony, grapefruity hops. Flavor has some malt & yeast derived notes of peach and nectarine. Also a lot of hop character with some funkiness. It’s a fairly good Belgian ale. BMan1113VR (2757), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Jun 20, 2008 Best use of brett that I have seen thus far. Pours with a large, creamy, white head covering a murky, dark orange body. Full retention from the head, and great lacing left on the glass from each sip taken. Aroma is fruity with some spiceyness, citrus-sour and very perfume like and balanced. Fruity and hoppy taste upfront, then a nice balance added by the funkyness, finishing spicey with some fruity notes (but very dry). Lively bubbles, velvetey mouthfeel.
