Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Feb 17, 2008 Objectively speaking:
Successful collaboration between giants on a style (funky Belgian golden ales with American aroma hops) of growing popularity.
I like:
Beautiful sunny golden hue. Large 1-inch eternal head. Superior aroma. Fresh tangerine notes. Tea tannins. Floral^2. Fresh and green. The best lemonade I’ve ever had. High complexity. Best new beer in a while.
I dislike:
Still a bit more residual sugars than I prefer. Perhaps more bitterness would take care of that. A bit too cerealic/thick, pils malt needs crispiness, not roundness. Finishing soapiness. Out of place banana esters in mouth.
nimbleprop (819), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Feb 17, 2008 On tap at Max’s Belgian fest. Translucent hazy, straw gold with a white, frothy head. Nose is barnyard funk, lemons, yeast and grass. Flavor is more funk, grass, white grapes and yeast. Finish is soft and smooth and slightly watery. Very well balanced and crisp. Kevin (1917), Colorado, USA Feb 13, 2008 bottle.yellow orange body a scummy white head.tangerine banana nosewith a bit of musky bretty scent of rubber. spiced lemon flavor at first. sweet and the slides to a dry finish. chalkyin a good way. a fair bit of grapefruit happening here. some caramel vanilla notes are nice under this. the first bretted up beer i’ve enjoyed in a while, there will be more, the first rating in my kick ass new notebook, and there will be more. now back to "mr. show"

Make sure to let this warm up a tad as the flavors are much more pronounced when not super cold. I’ve had this on tap and in bottles and it’s a winner! Sammy (3928), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 10, 2008 Bottle shared with Dave of the Brick Store Pub. Yeasty aroma. Cloudy golden with white lace and head. Somewhat funky in taste, it’s an understated and balanced wild ale. Very great and medium mouthfeel. JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Feb 9, 2008 750 from HiTime Wine. Boy, is this an amazing beer. I kept thinking "this is what Ommegeddon is trying to be," although that’s a bit unfair and it’s more Flemish primitive than dry farmhouse funk. Anyways, a golden-to-orange pour with a very lively head, this one has tart fruit aromas from the git-go. It’s very flavorful, with hints of blood orange flavors and what tastes like some dry-hopping in there too. I’m not getting the spices some folks note, but it doesn’t matter to me - this one is just a superb collaboration. doubleo (1096), San Diego, California, USA Feb 8, 2008 750ml bottle, courtesy of travisd13. Pours a hazy deep yellow color with a nice active white head. The head hangs out a bit and leaves a bit of lace. Smells yeasty and bready up front and as you sniff you get some of the fruits. A little banana and some sweet potatoe or something. Great tasting Belgian. Sweet and malty in the front and a bit of hop spice on the finish. Awesome. Coats the mouth a bit. Very active and nice carbonation. This is one of the best Belgian brews I have had in a long time. It won’t overwhelm you with sweetness or anything. matta (1137), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 7, 2008 Rating #1095
