Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jan 27, 2008 This pours a slightly hazed yellowish amber body with a fluffy off-white head. The aroma has tart tangerine, sweet pale malt, honey, meadow flowers, apricots, and herbs. The flavor adds a refreshing acidic quality along with some zest, peppers, soft fruits, an herbal/floral bitterness, and a touch of the funk. Very nice and no doubt this would age quite well.

Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Jan 26, 2008 Tastes a bit better then it smells. Highlights are honey, rhubarb, obvious banana, caramel and prickly pear. A beer that’s good now and will only improve with age. ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Jan 23, 2008 On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Really quite complex for how light its color is. Flour, yeast, but also quite sweet and refreshing. The fruit flavors were too subtle for little ole me to single out, but this is a very unique brew. djtimeless (170), Florida, USA Jan 20, 2008 Pours out hazy golden ale with white creamy head. Nice fruity floral notes. Hoppy with a sweet slightly spicey finish. A very nice hoppy saison. kujo9 (1077), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Jan 11, 2008 750 ml bottle 11/20/07: Light amber w/a lasting medium cream colored head; hazy. Fruity, floral, w/ a bit of orange citrus, herbal and earthy hop, a touch of brett barnyardy aromas w/ grainy pils malt and some lightly corn DMS. Peppery spicy yeast, and it seems a bit woody, and has some hints of dried apricot aromas. Flavor is fruity w/a hint of citrusy orange up front. Well balanced throughout, but dries out in the finish. Bready malt, peppery yeast, and yeasty mid palate. A bit of bitterness slides into the aftertaste. Some sugary sweetness up front as well with a bit of caramel. Highly carbonated, well hidden alcohol, lighter body. Seems a bit rough around the edges for me, but nicely complex. I wonder what age will do to this beer? I may have to find out! grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jan 6, 2008 Light almond brown, thick, whipped creamy head. Lightly malty aroma, cherry, mild brettiness. Flavor is burly crystal malts, but quite dry, moderate bretty character, cherry syrup, fruity chalkiness (sweet tarts), clean finish, lightly orangey, ashen bitterness. Graham crackers, sharp carbo fading out. hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jan 5, 2008 Bottle... O-Town Christmas Gathering ‘07... Hazy, light golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. The aroma provides grainy, herbal and citrusy notes. Medium-bodied and watery with prickly carbonation. Flavor of sweet pale grains with a whisper of tart acidity. Lengthy, sweet, grainy finish. Thanks to boboski for providing the bottle! BBB63 (4198), La Porte, Indiana, USA Jan 4, 2008 Corked bottle and served in big ole snifter: Pours a clean initial golden hue with a fading frothy head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of light brett and cheesy yeast funk, herbal and aromatic hops, hint of bready and pils malt, touch of honey and apple esters and some wood.
The taste starts with equal amounts of sweet malt and wild yeast characteristics backed by lovely acidic fruit and some sublime leafy hops. What I like is the sudden rush of pepper, clove, and lime leaf towards the finish. The mouth feel is sprite and lively dancing across the palate and oh so refreshing with just a hint of alcohol noted. Could stand to be a bit dryer but I think that will come with time.
Seems a bit of a hybrid to me, part Biere de Garde, part Saison and part Tripel. Think a slightly young and funked up Duvel...Whatever it truly is, I like it and need to get more. Sorry Vinnie, Ron, Phil, and Steve but Tomme is still the best American brewer I know (you guys are still pretty good in my book).
