Nose is honey malt, some yeast, a little grapey funk. Flavor is a bit "old" for lack of a better description. Slightly raisiny malt, yeast, nice enough bitterness. Flavor is flat & one dimensional overall though. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA

The flavor is lightly sweet, moderately bitter with cotton candy, tangerine, pineapple, lavender and spicy herbal hops. Medium body is soft with moderate, gentle carbonation. This was a fantastic beer. tjthresh (1778), Greenfield, Indiana, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 2, 2009 Bottle thanks to my ratebeer.com secret santa mcbackus. Nice reddish burnt orange with a finger of long lasting eggshell colored head. Lots of lemon zest aroma, yeasty, spicy. Taste is a bit of a saison farmhouse funk, lots of lemons and other citrus, grassy hops and light yeasty spices. Fantastic and reminds me of Orval with some more lemon zest. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 10, 2009 Bottle: Gold pour with a finger of sandy head. Thick, small sheets of sticky lacing. Aroma of light florals and fruity hops. Some faint Belgian spices. A sweet and overall inviting aroma. Flavor is sweet and malty with citrus, florals, and a sweet faded citrus hop element. Mellows nicely as it warms to room temp. Belgian spices and yeast play a minimal role; seems like a cross of I2PA and barleywine... Rather tasty at that! ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

Pours out a nice orange color with a white head on it, lacing all the way down too. Good looking beer. Smell is fruity, sweet, yeasty, has some banana aspects and some hop notes as well. Taste is fruity and pretty hoppy to be a belgian strong. Easy to drink, fresh tasting, and smooth. A really good beer actually, and thank God it isnt hyped so I can maybe get another bottle of this.
