Bottle from Pizza Port Carlsbad Bottle shop consumed at Las Olas Mexican Restaurant. Yeasty aroma is balanced by a good bitterness. Interesting and it went well with the excellent Mexican food.

Not quite as thrilled with the initial scent as with Les Deux Brasseurs, but still capable. Hazed amber color with a taller beige head that slowly settles leaving a curtain of lace. Pale malt sweetness and orange zest scents. Hints of yogurt, grapefruit, and a nips of funk. Starts with a strong caramel flavor. Flavors not as promising as the aromas in this one. Roots of licorice, more orange zest, light resin, dried weeds and flowers and some spice, mostly from the alcohol, come out. Complex, but not balanced. FInish is fairly dry and the linger is quite bitter and somewhat biting. This is one of those brews that you can sit and think about things for awhile. You can ponder where the flavors are coming from and where are they going, both from a time and temperature sort of thing. Will this be better in a month, or perhaps a year; or is it one that is just going to be as good now as ever? Hell if I know, I’m drinking beer. Enjoy it and shut up.

Poured at the World beer festival in Durham, NC on 10-4-08. Tasted along with the Worldly Scholar and Pundit Drbayern and the Kiltless Celticbrew. Not much aroma, but a rich copper color. Held a nice lacy head. Sweet malt flavor with some hints of fruit.

Poured from a 750ml caged and corked bottle and served in a tulip. This beer poured a hazy golden orange hue with a thick, lasting beige head. Spotty lacing covered the glass. The aroma was made up of orange, crisp hops, a touch of caramel, brett, and vinous alcohol. The flavor was much the same, and finished with a quick hop bite and a bit of alcohol warmth. Mildly funky. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and had moderate carbonation. Not quite as dry as I would have prefered. Really flavorful and drinkable. Highly enjoyable.

Bottle 07 shared by Robert at Stateline. Poured orange in color with nice white head. Nice aroma of bread hops and slight fruityness. Taste is similar with nice texture. Smooth finish and easy to drink.

Bottle shared by robert at stateline. Cloudy orange in color, decent head. Good aroma of hops and bready/yeast. Taste has alot of citrus hops in it, but still has the belgian qualities. Light texture which made it very easy to drink. I really like these hybrid beers. They should have their own catagory. Belgian IPA’s. It reminded me of Stones 080808, but not as good. Only because it wasnt that fresh. But overall a really good beer, that I would suggest to anyone. Thanks Robert for sharing.
