Sample BI Indy gathering 2/25/06 - Aroma is yeast, candi sugar, hay, and malt. Pours transparent gold, bubbly, small head, and great lacing. Flavor is bread dough, yeast, clove and other subtle spice. Palate is creamy and smooth. Different and nice.

Bottle at the INDY RATE PARTY 2/25. Pours a clear golden colr with a medium soapy head. Aroma is very sweet with huge fruits; possibly bananas, apricots, and light raspberries. Flavor is light, and spiced. There are notes of honey and a bit of alcohol you can feel in the nose while drinking. Palate is very carbonated and bubbly.

Nice gold color, but the head vanishes immediately. I liked the aroma better than the taste. It’s got a mildly funky, old hay sourness atop a light malty fruitiness. The flavor is a straightforward, sweet malty flavor with some light juicy fruits - cherry and plum, perhaps. It finishes on a sugary note with a hint of the sourness from the nose appearing in the back of the throat at the very end.

Bottled: Golden coloured. Hazy. Off white head. Sweet malty and fruity aroma. Seems a little old. Has sweet notes in the flavour, but its mingled with sour notes, that shouldn’t be there. Thin and boring.

Bottled. 5,4%. Hazy yellow coloured. Peanut butter and yeast in the aroma. Sweet and wheaty flavour with grainy and nutty notes. Also notes of caramel. Thin.

Bottle - corked and caged. Slightly hazed gold with a small bubbly white head. Nose is light lemon, hay, yeast, wheat, light spice, dried fruit and a bit of candy orange. Taste is lightly spiced with more wheat notes, light earthiness, light lemon peel, cobwebby yeast, dry straw, light flowery notes and some Euro hoppiness. Body is light and refreshing with some dryness around the edges and a nice crispness towards the end. Finishes with more wheat notes, light citrus (mainly lemon), fresh cut hay, light spice profile and flowers. Bit of earthiness here as well. Not bad!

Light yellow body with a gigantic white head. The aroma is rich with cocoa and some hay. There is also a little bit of peanuts and some fresh peas. The taste has some peas along with a little tobacco and a hint of chocolate. There is a light refreshing note in this one. The mouthfeel is light and playful. I know that saison is wide open style and this pushes the bounderies. Certainly interesting.

Geez, a lot of folks were kind of hard on this guy. Oh, well. I picked up both in aroma and taste floral, yeasty, musty, citrusy, malty, sweetish characteristics. Light white head. Light body, good carbonation. Very nice beer with a nice finish. Shared it with friends from a bottle at Bodega downtown La Crosse.
