Commercial Description:
SARA has a dark red-brown color, is well hopped, and spicy at the same time. It has a hearty exclusive special taste with sour undertones, accentuated by a very rich aroma, which both come from the buckwheat.

DISCLAIMER: this is the brown, organic (biologique) version of Sara. Note that all versions of Sara are organic, also if it isn’t mentioned on the bottle.

Excellent malty aroma. Hazy reddish-brown colour with a lasting off-white head. The flavour is spicy malt with some harsh afternotes. I could wish for some carbonation here.

Dark mohogany color with a huge frothy white head. Aroma of sweet fruit with some spicy kick. Fizzy fruit flavor, some caramel, and some spice.

Had a bottle about a year ago, maybe ten months. The bottle I had may have been too young or maybe too old, I’m not sure. As soon as I opened it the head came oozing out of the bottle and when I poured the head just exploded no matter how gently and slowly I went. I know the carbonation was out of control because when I drank this beer it almost didn’t remain liquid in my mouth it just turned almost completely to foam. This was the most insane, hyperbolic carbonated beer I’ve ever had. I got the feeling it would be a great beer if it wasn’t so carbed. Perhaps I should have let it sit on the counter for an hour or something, although I don’t know if that would have helped. What I did get from it was tasty, floral, and slightly fruity with definite wheat and yeast flavors. I’ll have to get another bottle and see what it’s like (but there are just so many others I need to try and I’m a poor college student).

Dark copper hazy pour. Spicy nose with a moderate head. Bit of a sour note on mouth, but decent complexity and overall not bad.

25 cl bottle, ’bbe’ 2006. Very dark amber with a copper shine; a bit cloudy, enormous off-white head. Harsh, spicy aroma containing overdried biscuits with fruit, some nuts and a strong metallic note. Light grainy, sweetish taste with a good orangey-sourish-metallic touch and a very burnt background. Sticky body, dry mouthfeel with a burnt bitter aftertaste. Quite edgy and pretty much out of balance, I’d say.

Bottle. Poured a slightly hazy amber with a two finger high, creamy, off-white head that produced light lacing. Aroma of leather, mildew, citrus, and apple. The flavor found spices, apples, other fruit, and a light malt background as it warmed. Light to medium body with tingly carbonation. Slightly sour throughout. Different but OK.
