Aromas of wood, grain and caramel, with some hedgerow fruit. Flavour was slightly sweet, with some herb and wood flavours - it tasted like a Scottish traditional ale, and a decent dry finish. Enjoyable. smith4498 (912), Miami, Florida, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 11, 2008 Beige collar on unusual pinkish haze. Thick and yeasty. Nose of who knows what? Earth, apple peel, pepper, banana, definite wood. Ripe and estery. Liquorice in the mouth finishing quite bitterly, but preceded by heady apple-like fruit, and smoky/antiseptic coughsweet honey I’m not too keen on. Tasty-ish but not without flaws. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 8, 2008 750 ml bottle. Pours a clear amber with a moderate off-white head that lasted until about mid-glass and left no lacing at all. I like buckwheat, so I was looking forward to trying this beer. The aroma is a bit sour, which combined with the buckwheat, makes for an odd combination. The flavor is similar; the strong buckwheat flavor combined with the sourness ended up clashing. Add to that a bit of a soapy mouthfeel and the result is a disappointing beer. Finn (1510), Tromsø, Norway
