| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 24, 2007 Pours dark bown with a thin tan head. Smells of roasted malt but little else. Tastes thin and watery with a ton of bitterness and some sweet qualities, but not nearly enough to balance out the bitterness. No fruit hints to speak of. This does not taste at all like the other Baltic Porters I’ve sampled over the past 6 weeks. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

Aromas had some sourness along with the classic roastiness. Flavor was a bit strange too. More tart flavors on top of all the roasted and burnt malts. Very interesting. ogglethorp (890), Ohio, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 2, 2007 Bottle. Pours dark, dark brown, with a thin tan colored head. Aroma is chocolate malts, coffee maybe, slight sour/acidic note. Flavor is the same chocolate malts, coffee, sour notes. Palate is thin and watery, mildly carbonated, finishes somewhat tart? Perhaps this is a bad bottle or just a bad beer. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 16, 2007 Sampled on draught at the brewpub in Siletz, Oregon during the ABA 07 Beer Tour. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thin light tan head the leaves behind a sticky ring on glass edge. Aroma of dark toasted malt, burnt molasses, black licorice, and some dark bittersweet chocolate. Taste is medium to full bodied, smooth, with flavors of dark chocolate, molasses and some smokey wood. Finish is slightly lighter than most other baltic porters, oil slick with a brief sour aftertaste. Darkover (1314), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 22, 2007 22 oz bottle, via nolankowal. Pours a very dark brown bordering on black under a foamy one finger beige head. A good amount of visible carbonation retains the head as a thin film. The aroma shows heavily burnt malt with lots of roast, licorice, a little vegetal note, and a hint of alcohol. The flavor shows way too much burnt acrid astringency up front, obscuring any roast, chocolate, or licorice notes that I want from a Baltic Porter. Finishes with a grapey and vegetal combo with moderate alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with an oily slick texture and a little stickiness on the finish. Moderate soft carbonation. Overall, this was a hard one to finish. The burnt acrid malt was too much to overcome.
