No real lacing to speak of. Aroma is roasted malt and esters (raisin & dates). Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, and dark esters. This beer sits quite odd with the palate. I guess that’s Siletz’s signature. Medium body. At least it’s not infected like the others. Probably the best of the Siletz beers I’ve tried. Worth a try. Thanks Scott. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 6, 2007 22oz bottle pours black with a short tan head. Good aroma of roasted malts, dark fruits, and coffee. Flavor starts out great with some dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malts but the finish is surprisingly sour with some lemon notes and bitterness. This really comes out of the blue because I really wanted to like this one with its roastiness and sweetness up front but the sourness is really tough to overcome. Body is good with as full mouthfeel. Too bad.. hayduke (1664), Eureka, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 30, 2007 The was an attractive 22 oz bottle that poured the color of week old coffee, or sort of a muddy brown with a small tan head that lasted a long time and left very little lacing. Nose was smokey with chocolate, and smelled sort of like a saddle after a 50 mile ride. Mouthfeel was lighter than the color would suggest, and was slightly dry. Flavor was a very odd combination of sweetness and sourness, with roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, fruits, and some bitter hops. Finish is sour with lingering bitterness. A bit of an odd brew, that while drinkable will probably not appeal to everyone. I found the combination of bitterness and sourness not all that enjoyable. WSSmiles (124), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Apr 5, 2007 22 oz bottle: Dark brown, lightly hazy w/ some orangy higlights @ the bottom of the glass w/a short lived light beige head. Strange aroma @ first, slightly smokey metallic cherry, then turns sweetly raisin sugary brown sugary chocolate. Light caramel and roasted malt as well as herbal hops in the end. Flavor is sweet/sour, which is weird. Lightly roasted, mildly tart from dark grains. A bit of that same metallic character in the flavor as in the aroma, lightly chocolate, and a sugary, lightly raisin sweetness...Again, very strange. Medium herbal/citrusy hop flavor in the finish and aftertaste, along w/ a bit of metallic sweetness. Finish is basically sweet flavored, then tart, then leans toward a bit of bitterness in the aftertaste. Fuller medium body, well hidden alcohol, dry m/f, & lower medium carbonation. I’m not sure what to think of this beer. It has some good qualities, and some annoying ones like the metallic character... Overall, I’m not very happy with it, but it’s not overtly bad. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 8, 2006 Bomber. Pours a clear blackish brown with a thin tan head. Smoke and chocolate in the nose and taste. The "Imperial Porter" name seemed a bit weird until I settled on the idea of an American Baltic Porter. A bit drier and lighter bodied, and not so sweet as than the European versions, but it avoids the annoying tendancy to throw handfulls of licorice into the brew. BuckeyeBoy (1674), Boise, Idaho, USA

Pours out a black topped with a tan head. A great mix of roast, chocolate and I also picked up some smoke. Pretty good.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 30, 2006 Aroma of toasty malt and chocolate. Deep dark color - mere hints of red. Tan head, which leaves lacing. Starts with roasted malt, passing to chocolate with carbonation, finishing with hints of burnt malt and definite hops. I think the comm. description "smooth and choclatey" is off on smooth, but right on choclatey. Leaves the tongue feeling pleasant.
