YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Apr 21, 2008 Greatly anticipated this one but was disappointed. Upon opening, it oozed like lava from the bottle. Glass was 95% foam. Finally, it subsided and there was a dark brown body beneath that monster brown head. The aroma was chocolate, bt not a rich chocolate. More of a syrup. The flavor wasn’t much better. Like squeezing some Hershey’s syrup into a mediocre porter. dkingsella (39), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 31, 2008 Pours black with a thin mocha film on top. Leaves a small amount of lacing as you drink. Can detect the chocolate in the aroma, but not much else. Cocoa is very distinct in the flavor along with coffee and roasted barley. Nice roasty, toasty, flavors in the finish as well. Overall quite enjoyable. IrishBoy (2056), Bakersfield, California, USA Mar 4, 2008 Bomber from kenb; Nose of roasty coffee, chocolate, and oatmeally grain; black with brown edges and a small beige head; flavor is coffee, a bit of bitterness, but little chocolate. greenhorn1 (359), Eugene, Oregon, USA Jan 20, 2008 22 oz bottle. I want to like this brewery, but all my experiences have not been pleasant. Pours black, no head. Aroma is not bad, smells of chocolate and roasted malt. In fact, after you smell the beer you might actually think this may be a good beer. But after the first taste...yuck. You can taste the chocolate, but the finish is what distracts me from it’s better qualities. The finish has an awful metallic taste that sneaks up on you and the mouthfeel is very watery. It seems that every beer I try from Siletz is contaminated. Is that possible? If they could figure that issue out, they might be able to produce some good beers. Enniskillen (1529), Port Angeles, Washington, USA Jan 6, 2008 Black with a thin mocha head. Aroma is light chocolate, cream, lightly roasty. Taste is roasty, not much chocolate showing but some, not too impressive, a bit mettalic.
