S - The smell is quite chocolate/hops/dark malt/coffee.
T - This porter is an after dinner beer. A meal in of itself. A sipper beer I like to call it.
M - Very strong, a good strong though. Once you drink it you feel like you grew a couple more chest hairs.
D - A very drinkable beer. Not for the faint of heart though. I would have one every once in a while, for desert or something in the evening. Be reminded that this beer is a true craft beer in that there is some yeast residue left in the bottom, so when pouring leave about 1/4" in bottom unless you like the yeast non/filtered taste.
In closing, this beer is designed with the serious drinker in mind, those that are not going for effect but appreciate the complexities of dark brew.

opaque brown, wispy tan head, dry powdered chocolate aroma, rich chocolate flavor, a distracting twang with light tartness destroies what should be a great beer

Looks like a printing error. Thankfully the beer is much better. Full, sweet chocolate aroma. Translucent blackish brown with a lacy tan head. Medium body that gets a bit watery in places. Sweet chocolate taste with some molasses and brown sugar around the edges. Lightly bitter finish that is also a bit roasty and just a touch sour. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Bottle: Pours a dark brown with a smaller tan head and light lacing. Nose is mild of cocoa and roasted malt. Hints of hops. This brew’s flavor is light in regards to it’s title, but has a decent roast character and hints of mocha. Lighter in body than most porters with more bitters in the trailer. trickyspaniard (3), Ohio, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 10, 2007 From bottle. Very dark beer, small head. Like a cream stout, nose is of chocolate and sweet bread. Very, very smooth mouthfeel. Strong taste of dry bittersweet chocolate, dominant flavor here. Aftertaste is somewhat bitter, not overwhelming or lasting very long. A very smooth porter with a good chocolate taste dominant. If these are Siletz’s beers, I’ll have to try more. Very good with dessert, especially chocolate, or as a treat beer. Recommended. Skyview (4096), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 16, 2007 Sampled on draught at the brewpub in Siletz, Oregon during the ABA 07 Beer Tour. Pours a opaque dark brown brew (one of Siletz’s darkest beers) with a thin tan head that dissolves to a fine film. Not much lacing or ring. Aroma of milk chocolate, toasted bready malts, some toffee and a touch of sugar. Taste is smooth, creamy, slightly sweet with flavors of dark bittersweet chocolate, two percent milk, and some dark pitted fruits. Finish is slightly gritty, mild bitterness and tart with a dark coffee aftertaste. ChainGangGuy (2616), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 10, 2007 Appearance: Pours out a dark brown body with a small, tan-colored head.
Smell: Potent, intense chocolatey aroma - much like a Godiva-type liqueur. There’s some roastiness and notes of pine in there, too, but first and foremost its chocolate.
Taste: I do wish I had a Sam Adams Chocolate Bock on hand to compare this to. Oh well.
The taste is chiefly that of a mouth full of dry, dusty cocoa powder. Any flavor in here turns suddenly to a sharply tart sourness that is rather long-lasting.
Mouthfeel: Medium-body, with a watery texture. Low carbonation. Very chalky on the finish.
Drinkability: A bit of a stomach-churner. Now I wish even more that I had that Sam Adams Chocolate Bock, so I could go ahead and dump this and switch to that. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Rated 4/15/07: I thank whichever local distributer has supplied the beers from Siletz because so far they have been nothing short of spectacular. Black opaque pour, light brown head about 1/4" in thickness for the duration, minimal lacing. Aroma is a huge mouthwatering dose of creamy chocolate with some bittersweet mocha coffee and sugar. Creamy and smooth on the palate, the label mentioned using oats and it’s affect is noticed. Chocolate is prevelant in the flavor but doesn’t dominate as it does in the aroma. This beer gets real bitter with a strong coffee and cream presence. Buttery-rum along with dry cocoa seem to be thrown in as well. This turned out to be a nice and unexpected dessert.
