Pours out a black topped with a creamy tan head. There is a good Chocolate aroma on this one. Not a bad batch for me. Maybe it was because I got it on tap????

I was wanred this might be infected and I believe it is. sour notes with milder chocolate accents make up the aroma. Body is a dark brown and supports a quickly fading pinky sized tan head. fore is soured chocolate that almost tastes like a poorly made chocolate lambic...but with a thinner mouthfeel and less carbonation. finish is tart, but noticeably chocolatey. The thin body and persistantly tart flavor makes it impossible to warm up to. seems to have the same infection as Bayhawk Porter from Ca. Very similar flavor profile. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA

Had a decent chocolate aroma, though a bit flat AND SOUR. The taste was horrid. I thought it must be my tastebuds. Drank some water, then tried another drink. Sour, bitter chocolate. No hops, no malts, just sour bitter chocolate with a hint of alcohol. Ok maybe the 3rd drink will be better. Clean the palette again, have a handfuk of peanuts. Here we go again. Yuck, this is the first beer I have ever poured down the drain after just 3 drinks.
*******re-rate 9/19/06-3/1/1/1/1/.07 (same as original rating)Thinking i am finally going to get to try this, but no! Another bottle of sour infected %&&%#@! Emailed the brewery and they said they will look it it....10/24/06 rerate*******ok it appears that after i emailed the brewery they pulled this off the shelves here as we have been out for a month. New batch arrived today, so am going to try this again.-22 oz bottle via Roth’s. Pours a midnight black with no head. Nose is of roasted chocolate and coffee. Taste is the same. Silky mouthfeel. Bittersweet roasted cocoa finish and aftertaste. This is quite good. Guess 3rd time is a charm! kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a very dark brown, almost black, under a fizzy light brown head that faded to a thin film. Aroma is very chocolaty with some light roast and a slight chalkiness. Flavor is of chocolate malt and an artificial chocolate flavor, derived from cocoa maybe? Quite a bit of astringency with a light sour mash/metallic tinge on the finish. Mouthfeel is fairly light bodied with alot of fizzy active carbonation. Overall, this was not so good. I must say, I’m a sucker for chocolate Porter/Stouts, but this one was not one of the better ones. jimhilt (1687), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jul 23, 2006 Pours a four finger light tan head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving a little lace. Totally black color. Light carbonation and heavy bodied. Bitter chocolate nose. Starts sour/bitter chocolate, stays that way to finish, bitter bakers chocolate aftertaste. Worst chocolate porter I have had. $4.05 for a 22oz bottle from Liquid Solutions Tigard, Or.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 21, 2006 Rich and overly too sweet, with loads of chocolate syrup. A really weak and underdone malt backbone, leaving the chocolate to run rampant and dominate everything that might have been tasty aobut this beer. Oakes (8100), gone rambling, Vietnam
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 15, 2006 Very dark brown. There is a bit of lactic twang in the aroma but otherwise it’s chocolate syrup. The flavour is likewise a one-dimensional chocolate syrup thing, overwhelming the underlying brew. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Feb 24, 2006 Dark, slightly oily looking with minimal head. Hops are quite dominant over the roasted malt and choclate in the nose. Flavour is rather bitter and vinegar like. Some chocolate squeezes in at the end.
