Commercial Description:
1st Place People's Choice Award - KLCC Microbrew Festival 2005
Our Chocolate Porter starts out with an empowering aroma of chocolate. The sensation of smoothness is partially due to the addition of oats. This porter has a coffee-like background flavor that comes from the darker roasted barley blending with the natural chocolate flavor to give an almost "mocha" experience to your taste buds. This could even be served as a desser all by itself.

(Bottle) Pours a black body with virtually no head. Aroma of chocolate, vinous, and a hint of pine. Flavor of malted milk balls, light pine, chocolate syrup, vinous, and hint of vanilla ice cream.

Pours dark brown / nearly black opaque with tan ringing head. Roasted chocolate coffee aroma. Soured flavor. This had to have gone bad. Too bad, it started very well.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with DarkElf (thanks!). Poured dark brown (almost black) with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of cocoa, roasted malts, nuts and light coffee. What was up with the taste. All I got was sour and tart. I would have suspected a bad bottle, but I read other raters who mention sour.

Thanks to hopdog. I think this one may have went bad though. Will re-rate if I get another chance to. Pours black with a smaller tan lacing head. Aroma of chocolate, sweet caramel, coffee and some nuts. Flavor of the same at first...then goes very sour very fast. Thinking this may have been infected.

22 oz. bottle, sweet roasty nose, pungent sour flavor, tart and unpleasant, easily the worst porter I have ever had, poorly balanced and insufficient in nearly every field, boooooooooooooo

Tap @ Redbones. Good nose, sweet. Marshmellow, cocoa, Chocolate milk. Blackish brown color, no head to speak of. Bittersweet flavors, like aroma with a viney subtle dried fruit addition. Medium body, lite creamy mouthfeel, Powdery dry finish, coats the tongue. Tasty beer, had this last so I was having a bit of palate fatigue. Gotta love the Northwest fest.

At Argo0’s: Absolutly no head. Chocalate/Coffee/Chalk. Left your mouth feeling very dry. Roasty dark chocolate

Bottle: Cola brown color with a thin kahki colored head. Some cocoa and roasted barley in the aroma Bitter sweet chocolate, light coffee notes and a moderate amount of roast. A slight tartness in the finish that I found in many of Siletz’s offerings. I had several samples of this at the KLCC fest, and that batch was a much better beer.
