Rich liquer like aroma, strong cocoa powder. Full flavored, full bodied palate, plenty of black coffee, dark chocolate and cocoa powder, finishes pretty sweet and creamy with a late lingering bitterness. Excellent full throttled porter. Lactose and bitter hops. Oh, yeah! This is exactly what I love about porters. The chocolate milk like mocha flavors blend so well with the roasted flavors and hops. Creamy palate that finishes like a hopped chocolate milk. Damn good!

This was a really amazing brew, my favorite of the night, and the line showed it was a big hit, i had to wait forever to try this beer. Pours very dark brown with a light brown head. Rich chocolate throughout, very sweet up front fading to a smooth well balanced finish. Very creamy texture with a very enjoyable rich chocolate sweetness. Reid (1092), Salem, Oregon, USA

Very rich dark brown coloured porter, cant see much light through it, small tan head.
Very rich aroma of malts and dark roasted coffee and dark chocolate.
Quite a coffee -like porter in taste, though the roasted barley is very well defined, then at the end the chocolate flavours come through, nice dark not too sweet chocolate.
Very nice on the palte, its a rich, thick beer but never cloying, quite a long lingering after taste, which for me is a good thing.,
Quite drinkable for one so complex. Good stuff hope Siletz makes this a regular in their line up. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA

Not only is this a good beer, it’s easily the best of the 18 beers I’ve sampled at this wonderful beer festival (which is probably the best overall festival that I’ve ever been to, BTW). This beer has just an amazing, sweet chocolate nose. Wow, fantastic! It smells like dessert. Solid, chocolate flavor, fairly sweet, moderately bitter, but the sweet chocolate is dominant from the first sip, and I’m not complaining one bit because this is a delicious beer. Medium body, and perhaps a bit thinner than I’d like, so that’s my only real complaint with this beer. Black in color, except with some hints of brown at the edges. The tan head is small on the pour and fades to a broken sheen quickly. What a way to end the festival! BrewDad (2378), Olympia, Washington, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Rated 4/15/07: I thank whichever local distributer has supplied the beers from Siletz because so far they have been nothing short of spectacular. Black opaque pour, light brown head about 1/4" in thickness for the duration, minimal lacing. Aroma is a huge mouthwatering dose of creamy chocolate with some bittersweet mocha coffee and sugar. Creamy and smooth on the palate, the label mentioned using oats and it’s affect is noticed. Chocolate is prevelant in the flavor but doesn’t dominate as it does in the aroma. This beer gets real bitter with a strong coffee and cream presence. Buttery-rum along with dry cocoa seem to be thrown in as well. This turned out to be a nice and unexpected dessert. trickyspaniard (3), Ohio, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 10, 2007 From bottle. Very dark beer, small head. Like a cream stout, nose is of chocolate and sweet bread. Very, very smooth mouthfeel. Strong taste of dry bittersweet chocolate, dominant flavor here. Aftertaste is somewhat bitter, not overwhelming or lasting very long. A very smooth porter with a good chocolate taste dominant. If these are Siletz’s beers, I’ll have to try more. Very good with dessert, especially chocolate, or as a treat beer. Recommended.
