Slightly cloudy. This is an odd brew, some sips I dig it, some I am turned off. Caramel malt add sweetness, fruity undertones, and some toastiness. Hop balanced. Fairly tame American Strong ale. Decent brew. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 9, 2005 Dark amber/mahogany with a creamy dark beige head and sheets of lace. Bitter hop aromas with fruit a plenty; figs and orange peels. Caramel and toasted wheat. Alcohol and biscuits. The nose is very complex and nice. Rich and complex malt bill in the flavors. Thick caramel with roast and biscuits. Sweet and sour hops with bitter notes. Some figs and oranges as well. A touch earthy. Thick bodied but finishes with a big malt punch and blended hops.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 19, 2004 2004 draught. Well I can sort of understand some people’s ratings, but mine was not hoppy. Dark orange, light haze, small off-white head. Slight spicy, earthy hops on the nose, mostly yeasty, thick breadiness and some toffee. Flavor is intensely yeasty. I drank this and thought I was drinking the wooly bully again, but even that wasnt this sour. Incredibly sour, but yet soft and creamy. Sweet honey wheat dough notes, graham crackers, light malts. Interesting, but too much sweet and sour sauce resemblance. motelpogo (4399), Plzen, Czech Republic

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 28, 2004 The beer after its escaping the 22-ounce brown bottle sets in the glass a deep mahogany with a mountainous frothy light tan head, and the left over lace a thick and sticky sheet that clings mightily to the glass. Nose has a nice crisp hop spiciness, sweet malt also present, perfume like tones, a sweet treat for the nose, start has a nice grain profile, sweet and the top middling in feel to the palate. Finish is stern in its acidity with the hop pronounced in their spicy bite, the aftertaste continues the spicy almost perfume like flavor, a good beer by any standards, interesting and a pleasurable quaff. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 29, 2004 Poured a brownish/amber color with a small head. Aroma was a bit fruitty with orange, molasses and hops. The taste was a bit off to me, lightly sour, nutty, caramel and bitter. Didn’t care for it. egajdzis (3640), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
