FlssmrBrewAlum (1079), Lisle, Illinois, USA Oct 7, 2009 22 oz bottle courtesy of riversideAK extra. Thanks! Pours a pretty dark pour, black with brownish red edges, not opaque, but still fairly dark. Small light brown head, lighter than chocolate milk, dies to a film that laces ok. Aromas are a nice sweet stout base, roasted malts, creamy chocolate, coffee, oatmeal sweetness, caramel, a touch bitterness it almost smells like. Interesting, full enough and good. Initial is thin, a bit harsh in the bitterness, almost a touch astringent, moving into a light roast, coffee, a touch of chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. This is very underbodied, a bit harsh, a little watery in the finish. Largely dissappointing, in flavors, body, and even a touch in appearance. Surprisingly it smells pretty good. Subpar. Rciesla (3510), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Jun 27, 2009 Bottle either an extra or shared by someone. Brown body with a tan head. Light burnt coffee grinds and chocolate notes. Bitter with licorice and a dry finish. beerbill (1919), Laurel, New York, USA Jan 21, 2009 22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with bitbucket. Pours very dark brown, just about black, with a moderate creamy tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left a few small patches of lace. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, prunes, and dates. Unfortunately, the flavor is a huge let-down. It begins with roasted malt, coffee and chocolate, but is followed by a strong tobacco flavor and an odd tangy sour flavor. The sourness and tanginess was in sharp contrast to the creamy smooth mouthfeel I was expecting. I actually ended up not finishing this one. Very disappointing, especially after the promising start. stchloe (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 10, 2009 Not a traditional cream stout. Heavier than comparable cream or coffee stouts, but also slightly tart. Almost like a combination of a spruce ale and stout. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Nov 30, 2008 Dark brown almost black pour with tan head and lace. Dark chocolate and medium coffee. Dark chocolate bitter with burnt coffee and a light sour finish. A bit thin and foamy for my tastes. Not bad but not special. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Oct 19, 2008 Something was off about this beer, though I’m not 100% sure what it was. A medium level of oat and chocolate flavors but with a weak feel overall. One of the least good stouts I’ve ever had. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Oct 17, 2008 Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one.
Pours black with a tan head.
Roasty aroma that follows in the flavor producing a typical roasty stout bitterness. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA Sep 30, 2008 22oz Bomber - Siletz Brewery - Siletz, OR
