Thin texture and body. The flavor was like someone made coffee using too much water and not enough coffee grounds. Disappointing. jonwell (104), Huntington Beach, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2005 Pours black with red highlights. No head. Smell is quite intriguing, roasted grain, toffee, caramel, a touch of chocolate. Flavor is robustly malty, not too roasty, but a bit flat maybe. Hops stand out quite nicely. Mouthfeel is creamy and full. Finishes looong and dry with coffee aftertaste. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 15, 2005 The beer disembogues the 22-ounce brown bottle a pitch-black color with a prosperous semi-creamy light tan head, after its dissolution the lace forms a thick and sticky sheet upon the glass. The aroma of toasted grains with hints of chocolate dominates the nose also hints of caramel, sweet, fresh and crisp with the start sweet and the malt profile perfect, the top is moderate to full in feel. Finish is pertinently acidic and the hops potent in their spiciness, the aftertaste quite dry and long lasting, a fine drinking stout that was a hit with me. Darkover (1316), Columbus, Ohio, USA
