Commercial Description:
A dark Mahogany colored stout with a full bodied coffe-like flavor & bittersweet finish. The oatmeal lends a creaminess to the mouthfeel that makes this stout a true pleasure to relax with.

Dull flat molasses and hops not very appealing pass on this one, as it is not worth the effort.

Pours a nice deep dark black body with a thin diminishing head. Roasted barley, light coffee, nutty and chocolate hints with a distinct characteristic lactose-sweetness in the aroma and flavor. Light creaminess in the flavor, more chocolate and light roast- ligth acrid dryness in the end with a lighter thinner mouthfeel than expected along with more lactose sweetness.

Dark reddish brown pour with tan head that diminishes. Roasted coffee, chocolate aroma. The flavor is filled with bitter, roasted coffee. Only slight note of sweet chocolate. Very dry, bitter finish, much too bitter for a sweet stout — and too acidic. Smooth palate that turns sticky. Where is the oatmeal? Where is the cream?

Dark brown, fading to black in center. Poured initially with a great creamy head. Aroma is dry cocoa powder, with roasted undertones. Bitterness develops as the beer come to room temp. The body is rather sharp and acidic (citric sourness), clashing with the oat smoothness. I’m not sure if this is a poor hop schedule or infection here. The oats just don’t produce the mouthfeel I expect from the style. Sweet chocolate does ultimately perseveres, but is too little too late. Overall, nice nose but body is whacky.

22 oz. bottle from LS - Pours a dark brown color with an average size tan head. Has a roasted, raw veg. aroma. Has a harsh, bitter roasted malt flavor. This is my second bad tasting Siletz beer today. I’ll probably give the rest to the dogs like I did the last beer. I think there is a problem at the brewery or I got some old/bad bottles from Liq. Sol. May try again in the future.

Big thanks to Degarth for yet another beer. Pours black, small tan head that stays. Taste is very bitter a lot of hops in this followed by bittersweet chocolate, coffee, good mouthfeel, but the hops really kill this beer, just too much bitterness almost like a defect in the beer, not bad but I wouldn’t buy it. Just don’t think it fits the style.

22oz bottle: Opaque black color with very small light tan head. Aroma has a touch of chocolate, vanilla, faint cherry and burbon notes. Flavor is fairly roasty, bit of caramel and vanilla, significant presence of bitter malts, with a slightly creamy, balanced finish. The bitterness is present but doesn’t overwhelm. A good brew, not fantastic but good.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Very dark pour. Strong roasted maltiness along with some hoppy bitterness. Smells stronger than your typical sweet stout. Smooth mouthfeel. Somewhat tart. Flavor seems to be dominated by roasted coffee.
