Courtesy of kenb. Aroma has a sharp beef bouillion/soy sauce kind of aroma I associate with Impy’s. Body is flat black and the head barely gets formed into a pinky thin mocha colored shape before promptly fading away. Fore is dark burnt malt that is slightly tart followed by stale black coffee and mild dark chocolate notes. Very nice feel to it, but not much else leaves a favorable impression.

Bottle... NTB Ernesto Festo ’06... Pours pitch black with a mid-sized, creamy, beige head. Excellent retention. The complex aroma is of cashews/pistachios, cocoa, cola and a touch of vanilla with very light smoke. Well-balanced with burnt, bitter notes of cocoa and lightly pungent. Almost full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Mid-length, burnt, mildly bitter finish. Kudos to kenb for shipping this bottle out east!

22oz bottle from kenb - Thanks Ken! - Pours black with ruby highlights and a short tan head that stayed pretty well and laced some.. Aroma is chocolate, some coffee, and lots of hops. Flavor is good chocolate, some coffee, toasted malts, a bit of liccorice, and some pine notes. Good creamy smooth palate and a fair lactose finish. Not too bad..

Black with thick creamy brown head. Nice sweet hoppy chocolate aroma. Very bitter finish in the taste. A slight bit of coffee, but not much. I wasn’t a big fan of the taste of first sip, but really enjoyed it after a couple tastes. Seems a bit thin.

Thanks to Ken B. for this one. Pours very dark blackish with minimal tan head. Aroma of dark malt, molasses, big hops, spices, chocoff. The aroma is almost identical to FFF Alpha Klaus! Tastes dark roasty malty, with chocoff, some vanilla, and some vinous, hoppy hints. Like a younger brother of Alpha Klaus in taste, aroma, and mouthfeel. I don’t need a 1,000 word dissertation to say what I can say in 3: Get ya some!

22oz bottle. Dark brown almost black in appearance. Small head. average amount of lace. Lots of aroma. Vanilla, mocha, chocolate smells. Tastes like it smells. Malty stout bittersweet aftertaste, lingers for awhile. A little sourness. Siiletz seems to have a sourness issue lately with many of their brews. This is not sour like the Chocolate Porter of theirs I threw a way recently at least, but their is a hint of sourness. On the otherhand, Oatmeal Stouts often have a bit of sourness so this may be perfectly normal here. Either way it is overall a very very good Stout.

Pours a three finger light tan head that fades quickly to a thin layer leaving a some lace. Black color. Light carbonation and heavy bodied. Roasted coffee nose. Starts almost sweet, some coffee bitterness, slight bitter coffee aftertaste.. $4.50 for a 22oz bottle from Liquid Solutions Tigard, Or.
