motelpogo (4111), Plzen, Czech Republic Aug 26, 2004 on tap at the drift inn in yachats where the proprietress claims to make the world´s worst coffee. pretty black with a big beige head. toasty caramel aroma, mild cream sweetness and then a coffee and dry licorice finish, but not as ridiculously dry as some american stouts. classy stuff, slmost as classy as the siletz brewpub Reid (991), Salem, Oregon, USA Nov 23, 2003 Came ina 22 oz brown bomber, with a nice screen printed label..with the angler on it.
This beer is a deep dark, dark brown almost completely black( held to the light only small hints of brown adorn the margins) and a nice large tan head..BEE-UT-I-FULL
MM MM a very strong and good aroma sort or unusual for an oatmeal stout, this had a real strong hint of black coffee and some nice smokiness..good stuff
Yes..a very nice strong taste coffee predominates..i also taste liquorice and some real dark roasted malts..at the end there is a certain hop bitterness.
Very ,very creramy in the mouth yet its still exhilerating stuff.
An unusual Oatmeal stout..but still drinkable..if the mood is just right..tonight it was! DocLock (4102), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 15, 2006 Thanks to Ken B. for this one. Pours very dark blackish with minimal tan head. Aroma of dark malt, molasses, big hops, spices, chocoff. The aroma is almost identical to FFF Alpha Klaus! Tastes dark roasty malty, with chocoff, some vanilla, and some vinous, hoppy hints. Like a younger brother of Alpha Klaus in taste, aroma, and mouthfeel. I don’t need a 1,000 word dissertation to say what I can say in 3: Get ya some! duff (5405), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Jun 6, 2004 Tap@The Drift Inn, Yachatz, Oregon. This was great, and if we hadn’t stopped at this place for a quick beer, we would never have even ventured out to the brewery. Looks amazing, deep black, with a tan head, it just kept screaming for me to drink it. Huge espresson/chocolate nose, rich yet, soft and rounded, some dustyness and oats also contribute to the flavour. Bitter coffee finish and dry. Also surprising it was so great, seeing as the brewery is out in the middle of the Oregonian wilderness. I’m so glad we found this beer and decided to venture out to Siletz. Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA Mar 15, 2005 The beer disembogues the 22-ounce brown bottle a pitch-black color with a prosperous semi-creamy light tan head, after its dissolution the lace forms a thick and sticky sheet upon the glass. The aroma of toasted grains with hints of chocolate dominates the nose also hints of caramel, sweet, fresh and crisp with the start sweet and the malt profile perfect, the top is moderate to full in feel. Finish is pertinently acidic and the hops potent in their spiciness, the aftertaste quite dry and long lasting, a fine drinking stout that was a hit with me.
