IrishBoy (2043), Bakersfield, California, USA Mar 5, 2008 Bomber from kenb; Nose is pine (or spruce), caramel malt, and a litle funky sourness; cloudy copper with a small beige head; flavor has some maltiness, tartness, and a little peppery mintiness. Finish is a mild tart note. Not very impressive, but I keep trying new beers looking for that jewel in the rough! sliffy (1930), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 1, 2008 Bottle: Pours a clear copper with a tiny off white head. Aroma, card board, some pine, woody notes. Flavor, some fruits, woody, some sweet malts, a sourness to it, i’m not a fan. Angeloregon (1516), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 17, 2007 From a 22-oz. bottle--Poured a copper-amber body with a mild white head. Nose of spruce tips and sticky hops and malts. Finished rather dry and mildly bitter. Nice sprucy taste in finish, too. notalush (1967), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Dec 15, 2007 Thanks to Aeneas for sharing - hmm...indeed - a unique beer - really kind of a smack in the mouth at first, but when your palate adjusts, it becomes enjoyable - cloudy reddish beer, with a large, foamy head - bizarre, yet not unwelcoming aroma of berries, bubble gum, pine needles, some sticky malt sweetness - the flavor is quite dry, somewhat acidic, almost sour, even - the spruce, or what I’m assuming is the spruce, is pretty dominant - a kind of waxy, almost plastic character sets in, making it a little less enjoyable - Aeneas commented that it tasted like swedish fish, and the fruit/berry character, coupled with the waxy flavor, kind of made this description spot on - but the sourness/tartness really gives it character - I think fans of Jolly Pumpkin would like this. General_Gao (2357), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Nov 16, 2007 22 oz bottle. Poured a clear copper red color with a minimal soap bubble head. Aroma was of caramel, minimal molasses, crushed green leaves, and a hint of grape. There was strong acidity up front which tapers off gradually at then end. Tasted of adhesive tape, minimal toffee, and toasted bread. Must be an infected bottle.
