| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Pours light copper with a small fading head.
Aroma shows toasty and nutty malt, some cola, light spices and treacle. Quite malty, and very different to other saisons I’ve tried.
Flavours echo the aromas with loads of toasty malt, almost approaching lightly roasted. Very light bitterness. Hints of honey.
The carbonation is too high in my opinion. johninmelb (695), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 18, 2009 Pleasing malty nose with treacle underpinned with hints of cigar smoke and cloves. Pours muddy and semi-opaque. Flavour is very malty with ome biscuit and a a very slight sourness coming through at the end. Finish is ultimately a bit watery but all in all a pleasant enough beer. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 18, 2009 Dark Brown pour at the Lion’s Pride
Aroma is sweet, dark candi, some dates. Flavor is very sweet and sticky, lots of malt and some dark fruit. Odd for the style, not what I was expecting from a Saison. bluebetty (143), Australia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 8, 2009 Bottle. Pur is dark brown with a fine white head that disappears pretty quickly. Aromas are very sweet. Flavours likewise are also quite sweet from both malt and some candi sugar. Also a little hop bitterness and some sourness at the end. The yeast obviousl plays a big part here also. Quite like this beer. bluevegie (2222), Perth, Australia
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 5, 2009 Clear red body with lasting, small white head. Fairly sweet for a saison, both taste and aroma, candi sugar and some fruit notes, simple and straightforward but a little bit boring. Borresteijn (1443), Amsterdam, Netherlands
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 28, 2009 33cl Bottle from Achelse Kluis, ABV 5%. Clear amberbrown colour, off white head. Aroma of grape juice, sweet red fruits, even a bit cassis-like, malts, a bit of dust and chai spices. Flavour is brown sugar, sweet, some dark fruits, red grapes/raisins, very malty. Light bodied, soft mouthfeel. Very light sourness in the finish, mostly just very sweet, too sweet actually, almost has some Dutch Oud Bruin qualities. Lacks the dryness that makes other saisons stand out. smcolw (373), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2009 I’ve come to love Saisons. The combination of sour and sweet, richness and spritzy, and its pedestrian roots mean that it will never put on any airs.
This starts off with a decent and lasting head that generates ample lace. The beer is a cloudy yellow.
The smell is sweet, but the flavor is a complex blend of spices, golden malt and light hop. The body is lighter than most Saisons. So, I describe this beer as more refreshing and less heavy than some.
