Nuffield (2718), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Apr 1, 2009 Nutty, rounded flavors, complemented by fruity notes. Chewy palate with a bit of sourness. I’m not 100% sure of the condition of it. Growler from Skyview. JK (2946), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Mar 22, 2009 Very smooth on the palate. Moderately roasted malt. Thin palate and not a lot of flavor. It is a little sour, but I’m not sure if that was intentional or not. MatSciGuy (629), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Mar 15, 2009 [Growler] shared at Skyview’s Lex/Larp Cellars Farewell. Pours a clear brown with no head. Aroma is roasted malts and caramel. Flavor is a bit thin, some sour/tartness, and cherry. badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Mar 2, 2009 Growler courtesy of Skyview. Black color with no head. Lots of malt, roast and light chocolate aroma. Some salt as well. A strong malt bitterness flavor up front. A little sourness and tang. Chocolate as well. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Oct 11, 2008 On draught at the brewpub in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. From snifter glass pours an opaque dark brown with a thick tan head that slowly dissipates to a thin creamy tan head with excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted dark malt, some prunes and a touch of allspice. Taste is full bodied, some extra alcohol kick, toasted dark malt, chocolate and some mild bitterness. Finish has a slight metallic aftertaste with some alcohol warmth and toasted dark malt flavor. Ofortuna (322), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA Sep 26, 2007 From my backlog of notes. Served on tap from the brewery. Served in a snifter glass and a bit colder than I would’ve liked. Some nice aromas of chocolate and plums with a bit of hop presence noted once it warms up. Good use of specialty malt to give a hefty roastedness to the flavour. Good viscosity and a slight pleasant warming character as it goes down. Wish the body was just a little more, but overall a very good imperial porter and deserving of a try when this is made available again. After talking with the bartender, they would like to make this appear seasonally.
