dark amber with a slight haze, fine beige head, lots of thick lace,
sweet dark caramel malt aroma with a combination of citrus and earthy hops,
sweet caramel malt flavor well balanced with the earthy hops, the great hop flavor leads to a tasty long bitter finish, between the dark caramel and the earthy hops that makes a light barley wine

Poured a deep and cloudy amber (almost brown) color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel and light pine and citrus. Tastes of pretty much the same. I too just noticed the description that this was Oak Aged. There was some light wood in there, but not enough that I would have guessed this. This one was nicely balanced and not over board bitter. Nice full body. CaptainCougar (5530), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Sweet grainy caramel malty aroma has a touch of earthy piny hops. Body starts with nice fullness and thick, sweet toasty caramel malt along with an earthy, almost peaty piny hoppiness. A nice English style IPA. JPDIPSO (4935), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 27, 2006 Dark bronze color with a off-white head. A very dry IPA. I just noticed the description about this being oak aged and that explains a few things. Dry malt flavors mix with a herbal hops infusion. The oak dries this one out and adds a mild wood flavor. A more traditional IPA. Skyview (4090), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 23, 2007 Sampled on draught at the brewpub in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Pours a clear reddish amber brew with a thick and creamy off-white head that slowly dissolves that leaves behind an excellent lacing and lumpy head top. Aroma of sweet grapefruit and plenty of it. Other scents picked up are orange zest and some caramel malt. Taste is medium bodied, very light carbonation with more grapefruit, sweet toffee with a piney character. Finish is extreme bitter, piney and some light caramel malt aftertaste. When doing a flight sampler at the brewpub, try this one last. The bitterness is so over-powering, the taste buds may need some recharging. 1FastSTi (2580), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 4, 2006 Pours to a deep rusty/coppery color with an off-white head and so-so lacing. The flavor seems Amarillo-ish in hops even though they say Cascade. Strawberry seeds and fruit. Light idophor-ish quality on the first couple of sips. Tastes like Chinook... The aroma is hoppy. Amarillo and Chinook. Perhaps that’s what oak aging does to Cascade? The palate is medium-bodied and bitter with a nice texture. This is pretty decent. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 20, 2008 Sampled on draught at Silver Creek: pours a clear copper with a medium sized white head. Plenty of floral aroma, and strong hops. Taste is light and bubbly, citrusy all around, with pleasent grapefruit flavors. Finishes rather light for an IPA, but very nice anyway. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 24, 2006 Semi-translucent and cherry honey brown in color with a creamy, jiggling khaki tan head. Grass stains, marigolds and dandelions lead the herbaceous aromatic surplus. Shoveling the botanical gardens kicks up some piping papaya enzyme, cotton blossom and stark, bitter, aromatically dry grapefruit. Percussive toffee flavor reminisces of Irish ale yeast derivatives. Bitterness dryly seeps through. Sharp, dark butterscotch sensations smooth out like single malt scotch. Hickory and pine sticks dipped in liquefied spiced rum toffee. Bitterness just so happens to compliment the malt liquor booziness. Medium-bodied, nearly syrups, and then dryly thinning out. No complaints with the carbonation. Feisty pine paneling bitterness and a hint of amaretto toffee & graham recession bodes with cascade flavor and bittering sensations in the end.
