Dark brown color with a scant thin layer of ecru bubbles. Aromas of dark stewed fruit, raw sugar, and hint of spice. More stewed fruit in the flavors with plums, dates, dark cherries and currants. A fairly strong stew base with a little bit of spiced rum. Light burn in the finish and linger and a bit of a return of lightly toasted malt in the linger. A nice winter extreme brew.

Pours a dark hazy brown. Strong grapefruit flavor and aroma. Peppery alcohol flavor with dry finish. A bit fruity with fleeting spice and fruit esters. Aging would improve this unique offering.

On draught at the brewpub/brewery in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. From an 8-oz snifter pours a clear dark cola brown brew with a creamy off-white head that quickly dissipates and leaves behind some excellent lacing and a film top. Allow this beer to warm up a wee bit before any aroma comes out. Aroma of sweetened caramel malt, some tart pear, raisins, and a touch of burnt brown sugar. Taste is full bodied, fruity, plenty of alcohol character with flavors of light brown sugar, raisins, and some dry spice. Finish has a mild bitterness with plenty of alcohol warmth with some caramel and hop aftertaste. Almost a Barley Wine character and aging will do some wonders to this brew.

On tap, fudy ,burnt sugar aroma, maybe with some treacle, nice malty hit, taste of brown sugar and burnt caramel sweetness ,with some touches of anise , seems smooth ,but occasionlly shows a slight bite, bitterness pops up in finish as the sweetness drys out. I thought this was one of the better stronger brews produced here

8 oz snifter provided on-tap at the brewpub. Very dark hue that is almost opaque in nature. A bit surprising for the style, but does sit nicely in the glass. Strong aromas of an odd South American Varietal of hop I can’t quite place at this time, candied yams, dates and raisins round out the aroma components of this brew. Nice body and mouthfeel, but an odd burnt sweetness start to take shape. Slight medicinal flavour, some fusels and a bit rough overall around the edges make me think this could have sat a bit longer to age out. Would be very interested to taste this with another year of age on it, but don’t think this will last long.
