BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jun 20, 2009 Draught. Pours sparkling gold with an average, frothy, white head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (straw, grain, hay, cereal), light hop (flowers), average yeast (sweat) with notes of butter, dust, and pineapple. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a metallic finish. Long duration, light sweetness and acidity, moderate bitterness. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Aug 8, 2008 19-Jan-08 (Draft: Connoisseur’s Session, 2008 Great Alaskan Beer and Barley Wine Festival in Anchorage, AK) 2007 Vintage A medium-sweet, grainy malt flavor dominates this English-style ale. Plenty of honey adds to the sweetness and a light bitterness builds on the palate over a few sips. In the nose, it’s grainy (but not corny) and a bit of some apple, but not really much in the way of hops. Medium-bodied on the palate and nicely balanced. Golden in color and clear with a small, whitish head that settles to a wide ring. The brewery staff at the festival said this beer was a strong ESB, but it’s a bit heavy and sweet for that. Interesting beer though.
