Commercial Description:
A deep brown/red color, moderately sweet and satisfying ale with a rich malty flavor derived from roasted and aromatic specialty malts, enhanced by the distinctive aroma of Pacific Northwest Cascade hops.Slightly less ‘heavy’ than traditional porter-style ale, Pick Axe Porter is surprisingly refreshing for a beer of its dark color

Bottle thanks to savnac. Pour is deep clear brown with a small slightly tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee with cream, brown sugar, malt, and light cinnamon. Smells smooth and creamy. Flavor is chocolate up front with light malt to follow and a coffee finish. Finish is mix of hops and coffee with bitter notes and a hint of cedar. It’s a solid thirst-quenching porter; goes down pretty easy. Thanks Ira!

Bottle via trade, thanks Ira! Heavy toffee nose in over the roast and chocolate. Deep ruby, nearly pitch pour with a tiny-bubbled light brown head. Taste is sweet and milk chocolaty with light roast and faint coffee. Body a little thin and there’s light woody bitterness. Aftertaste is rich and malty but not particularly dry. Nice little sweet porter!

Pours a clear brown with a red hue. Has a weak tan head. Chocolate malt nose, sweet malts, not much hop aroma. A very light body, very watery. Finishs with a little coffee/ toffee taste that doesn’t last. Not what I look for in a porter, I will go for others before this one.

12 oz bottle, via BA lakersfan16. Pours a clear brown body with a very small fleeting light brown head. The nose is chocolate malt with a little roast and light hoppiness. Some nice coffee notes as well. The flavor is just way too thinned and weak to make a good impression. Watery roasted malt, kinda bland, and a little grainy. Mouthfeel is fairly thin and watery in texture with fizzy forced feeling carbonation. Not too much to say here, just a watery, bland, below average Porter.

Bottle pours dark brown/light black with almost no head. Aroma is mostly caramel and roasted malt. Light mouthfeel. Flavor follows the nose and has some slight hop character to it. Overall a just ok brew.

Darft. Pours clear dark brown with thin fizzy light brown diminishing head, spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, coffee, roasted), light hops (grass, pine). A light sweetness and bit of bitterness; nice roasted malt flavor. Full bodied, creamy texture, and a slightly bitter finish.

Bottle, aroma is soft with scents of caramel and coffee. Light body, light hop taste with sweet malt flavor and hint of dark chocolate. Head is very small.
