Nose was hefty with caramel malt with a bit of citrus fruit tossed in. Flavor much the same, a little too overbalanced towards the maltiness for me, and the hops seemed far too muted for the style. Mediocre offering, a huge disappointment after their tasty fresh hop brew. troopie (879), USA

Faint piney and citrusy head. Rather weak flavour, not full like an IPA. Flavour not unpleasant, just not enough of it. Weak finish. chadje (130), Pasadena, California, USA

Nose is floral, pine, and citrus hops on top of a caramel malt backbone. Very slick mouthfeel. Flavor is bitter with citrus hops dominating. The finish is bitter and the final mouthfeel is slick and nicely bitter.. Overall a very well made and highly drinkable IPA. glkaiser (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 15, 2009 Copper with small head. More malt than your average NW IPA, plus a little bit of butterscotch that shouldn’t be there. Citrus hops take over and supply just enough bitterness. OK. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 28, 2009 rusty orange. dirty toast crumb nose, caramel malt is noticeable in
small amounts, hop character resembles dried pineapple and peaches.
Body is moderately astringent, the coarseness is crusty, chunky,
nutty, etc. This is not really that good in any respect, the only
thing I seem to like is the pungent, dried fruit finish, it’s properly
bitter only at the very end after the off-putting caramel malt
disappears.
