2,59$, for 341 ml, 12,99$ for a 6-pack. The smokyness is not so obvious in the aroma but is pretty invading in the taste. Seems like a smoked porter but the chocolate and torrefied malt that one usually finds in a porter is clouded by that nevertheless quality sweet smoked-malt intensity. An at first discreet touch of hops also slowly makes its way through the smokyness, to become more and more obvious in the aftertaste. Not bad but very (too?) smokey porter.

Bottle ( 341ml ). Shared with blankboy and garthicus, via trade with JulienHuxley. Hazy ruby, average frothy tan head (4-). Moderately sweet aroma - maple syrup, smokey peat. Taste follows - peatier, a nice Islay character, not much booze either - decent roast nutty malt. Light, slick mouthfeel, a little acidic, slightly still - a mild campfire tang in the finish. Pretty solid - not all that robust, but what the hey.

Thanks to HogTownHarry, shared with Blankboy and I. Appearance: Dirty dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma: Nice smokiness, slight whiskey, malt and cream. Flavour: Bitter at first, then cream, malt, bread and a long lasting bitter finish. Very nice.

Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and not much lacing. Aroma of smoked is quite dominant with some notes of roasted malt also noticeable. Taste is dominated by a nice mix of smoked malt with a little touch of roasted malt. Body is bit thin and beer would be better with a fuller body with good carbonation. Very well done with loads of smoked malt but I think this beer would be even better with more roasted malt and a fuller creamier body.

Pours dark brown with a small head that quickly disappears. Aroma is of slight smoke and hints of roasted malt. Taste is similar with notes of coffee, smoked wood backed up with some btiterness. Not as complex as expected, the flavour is nice and definitely enjoyable, goes down very smooth, but overall it is good, not great.

Dark reddish brown with a quick fading head. Lactic notes in the aromas, something like chocolate milk, followed by some peat. Very lightly carbonated, a bit aqueous, with a very thin body that end up on a burning bitter cocoa finish that remembers me of...coca cola! Not all bad, but the sum of the taste is like a dismantle object. It’s quite hard to patch all the taste together, especially with the watery texture of the beer.

Bouteille 341ml.

341 ml bottle bought at Peluso, November 17, 2009. Caramel brown, small head. Aroma of half-burnt wood smoked malt. a touch sweet. The taste of smoked malt is very dominant, some roasted coffee, a dry aftertaste, but a little bitter. A very good smoked porter, faithful to the Bièropholie version!
