| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 15, 2009 An incredible find. The pour is jet black, with a thin but very sticky head. Aroma has strong notes of coffee more than anything else. The flavor initially has roasted malts, dark chocolate and some really strong coffee. Carbonation is very soft and makes this an easy beer to drink. Alcohol is also very well hidden. I think the coffee overpowers everything else to an extent but this is certainly the beer for any chocolate lover out there as well. Being a huge fan of imperial stouts ( my disclosure) this beer is well worth the money for any fan of this style. Rastacouere (5564), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 13, 2009 A dark, generous tan head covers the black pour. Cocoa / dark chocolate nose is mixed up with subtle herbal hops in the straightforward nose. I like how it unveils in mouth, procuring more depth thanks to fruity nuances (the dark kind, think blackberries and brethren). From there, rather than taking a vinous or sweet road, it remains dry all along, playing on its powdery bittersweet chocolate and plain roasted malt notes. Minimal biscuitiness emanate from the malts as it fades away with raisin and burnt toast evocations. Medium body whose active carbonation remains active even after sitting half an hour in the glass. Alcohol is never a concern. A fine beer that is not constrained in the sippers category. garthicus (1310), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 10, 2009 Bottle ( 341ml ). Shared with blankboy and garthicus via trade with JulienHuxley. Very black pour, dark brown creamy lasting head (4+). Lovely aroma - bitter chocolate, roast coffee beans, cream, some herbal bitterness, moderate and very restrained alcohol - taste follows, more bitterness, dry, a hint of mint - creamy, smooth mouthfeel, dry, mildly carbonated, long dark roast bitter finish. Solid, solid imperial stout, well done! strowlands8 (87), Ontario, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 3, 2009 Pours black with a minimal brown head leaves some lacing on the glass. Huge dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malts in the aroma with the emphasis on dark chocolate. Taste is the same, lots of bitterness in the flavour, which makes sense givin the high IBUs. Really awesome for those who like dark chocolate, which makes up the bulk of the palate. A truly great beer.
