Yes you can smell faint flowers, citrus, malt, but there was something else that districtacted me...not sure what it. Flavor was completely different, nice big fruity flavor with a nice balance of caramel malts with some grass notes. Medium mouthfeel, slightly oily, with a shorter bitterness finish than I like with my IPA. Decent IPA. Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 8, 2007 Filled a pint from a bottle with a red sienna color set beneath a plush dirty white head that held up nicely.. Nose of an English style IPA, big on the malts with a decent dose of flowery hops. Finished more resinous and sweet than bitter with some bready qualities. Very nice beer. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 21, 2007 Big IPA with a rich toasty malty side to give you some balance to the bitter hop finish. Grassy citrus hops gave a big refreshing crisp edge, heavy on the bitterning. This IPA was big, and now seeing the ABV I fully understand it. While very strong for an IPA, this was still nice. Hops could have been a bit more floral, they were bitter, but the aromatics were more subtle. raphael (417), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 14, 2007 I smell sawdust hot in the sun, unsweetened coconut, & hops. pretty deep amber with thin but clinging head. a bit oily in the mouth and a little flat (from bottle). flavor first sweet then hoppy, both on the mild side and well balanced. definite warming. bhensonb (4345), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Bottle. Hop is detectable a foot from the pour. Citrus hop to me. Hazy amber copper color with a fine, frothy off-white head that leaves lace, and it sticks around. As the glass approaches the nose the hop seems floral. Thin body. The first hop seems piny, then after a bit it seems floral. I only really noticed malt in the finish at first (maybe that’s why it’s thin; low malt). Repeated tastes establish malt following the initial hop. Maybe there’s some stone fruit tucked in with the malt, but so is there fruity hop here? And where did the citrus and pine go? In the finish the hop seems to come on strongly floral. Realy a nice product. Good representative of the style. Perkeo (318), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 30, 2007 Ruddy and hazy dark amber. Lightly fruity aroma, some plum with orange peel and a bit of chocolate. Slightly husky/roasty, maybe over sparged, semi harsh bitterness but backed pretty adequately by nice ripe malt and fruit.
