Mar 21, 2008 On tap at Green Dragon--Poured a deep black-brown body with lots of coffee aromatics. Perhaps the most coffee flavored brew I have ever experienced. Bitter in the finish and pretty sharply carbonated. Some chocolate in the finish, too. Not bad, but a bit of a gut bomb.

Nov 28, 2007 Espresso and cocoa nose with mild peppery spice. Herbal and coffe palate with mild acidity. Somewhat astringent finish.

Oct 1, 2006 Draft at the brew pub. Pours pitch black with a frothy ivory head. HUGE coffee and chocolate aromas. The coffee aroma is that of warm, wet coffee grounds. Thick mouth feel with more chocolate and coffee notes. Moderately hopped. Bitter mocha finish.

Aug 27, 2006 At Hops in Humboldt Micro-Brew Festival in 4 oz glass. Looks like French Roast. For that matter smells like French Roast. Shucks, tastes like French Roast. If you like your Porter to take lile coffee this is the one. I like Porter as just that so I have to rate this as coffee royale. Good though.

Jun 8, 2006 Had this on nitro at the pub. Aroma of a great cup of iced coffee. small tan head, but nice carbonation from the nitro. darkest brown & opaque. coffee flavor, mocha, just enoug hops to balance the sweet to a neural, but no hop flavor. maybe i enjoyed this more as I’m not a big porter fan, but I was impressed.

Aug 25, 2005 (Draft: Six Rivers Brewery in McKinleyville, CA) The "coffeed" version of Moonstone Porter, this coffee porter announces itself long before you actually start drinking it. The strong coffee aroma smells very fresh, like freshly brewing coffee. Dark roasted and bitter coffee dominates the flavor from start to finish. I can’t taste a whole lot of the underlying porter flavor, so the chocolate is really tough to pick up. But those who like coffee beers will undoubtedly enjoy this one. Deep mahogany color is identical to the standard Moonstone Porter, but the light tan head is smaller and fades to a small rim, leaving virtually no lacing. Not the best coffee porter/stout I’ve had, but it’s bold and flavorful.

Sep 6, 2004 on tap at six rivers. second coffee beer of the day after lost coast and this was certainly inferior, tastes like they just threw the coffee in without using any boiling water at any stage

Jun 2, 2004 Tap@Six Rivers. Taste really odd, coffee grind is obvious, funny green, weedy sort of flavours pops up now and then, pretty strange.
